Weather update released as concerns about the postponement of Liverpool vs Everton arise.

Liverpool is set to welcome Everton this weekend. Following a storm that led to a postponement last season, a weather alert for Merseyside has been issued once again.

The first encounter between Liverpool and Everton occurs early this season, just four matches into the new league schedule.

This is contingent on the match proceeding as intended, with fresh concerns surfacing after a weather-related delay affected last season’s reverse fixture.

That match, the final one at Goodison Park, was originally planned for December 7.

However, Storm Darragh disrupted those arrangements (which was fortunate for me, as I was getting married, cleverly managing to do so without missing the game).

Severe weather is predicted in Liverpool once more, with Anfield located in an area under a Met Office warning.

While Arne Slot might welcome an unexpected break after two demanding matches in quick succession, both of which were decided in stoppage time, the fixture should proceed unless circumstances change.

Currently, Liverpool is situated within a broad region affected by a yellow rain warning.

This indicates a slight possibility of power outages and other service disruptions, along with a minor risk of flooding.

The warning’s color is determined by a mix of probability and potential impact. In this instance, a yellow warning has been issued due to a very low probability paired with a medium impact.

Consequently, if the probability rises before tomorrow’s early kick-off, the warning could be escalated, casting further uncertainty on Liverpool vs Everton. However, at this moment, there is no indication that the match will be canceled.

The Met Office’s forecast for Liverpool indicates a 70% chance of rain during the match, with relatively light winds of 14-15 miles per hour. Visibility is expected to be good.

It’s important to note that the match may still be quite intense. David Moyes has cautioned that he will prepare his team to battle until the final whistle, especially given Liverpool’s recent trend of scoring very late goals.

However, as Slot mentioned during his press conference, this won’t be the first high-pressure match his players have encountered.

Even many of the new recruits experienced the away game against Newcastle, which had a derby atmosphere.

Notably, one player who did not participate in that match was Alexander Isak, who ironically is the source of much of the tension. He may also miss this upcoming game, as Slot suggested he is unlikely to play more than 45 minutes following his hour-long appearance against Atletico Madrid.

If that turns out to be true, Hugo Ekitike will be responsible for leading the attack. He has made a strong start to his career at Anfield and will be eager to make an impression now that Isak is vying for his position.

On the other hand, Everton is also performing well. Uncommonly, this derby is classified as a top-six encounter, and a victory for the Toffees would temporarily elevate them to second place (behind Liverpool).

Slot specifically mentioned Jack Grealish as a player to keep an eye on. Currently on loan from Manchester City, he has appeared revitalized.

Despite the challenges, Liverpool will be optimistic about securing a victory if they perform at their best. This would create a very positive atmosphere at Anfield.
