Watch: New fan footage reveals Dominik Szoboszlai in a tense exchange with Liverpool supporters

Recently released fan footage has documented a troubling incident at the Etihad Stadium, seemingly depicting Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in a heated confrontation with a group of traveling fans following the club’s 4-0 defeat in the FA Cup.

The Hungarian international, who has been one of the few players to earn praise during a challenging season, appeared to reach a tipping point as the Reds’ hopes in the domestic cup were brutally dashed by Manchester City.

What transpired between Liverpool fans and Dominik Szoboszlai at full-time

The footage, which emerged on social media shortly after the final whistle, captures Szoboszlai moving towards the away section as the players went to acknowledge the supporters who remained until the end.

While most players offered a sorrowful applause, the 25-year-old seemed to react to remarks directed at him from the front rows.

The video depicts an animated Szoboszlai gesturing towards a group of fans before being guided away by teammate Federico Chiesa.

Although the precise words exchanged are unclear, it seemed that Szoboszlai was displeased that the fans were not recognizing the players’ efforts with applause.

Things are deteriorating at Liverpool

This confrontation is yet another indication of a club in decline. Liverpool has now experienced 15 losses across all competitions this season, marking a significant downturn for the reigning Premier League champions.

The atmosphere surrounding the club has become increasingly toxic, with the “Arne Out” sentiment intensifying after each setback.

With Mohamed Salah confirmed to depart this summer and the team currently positioned in fifth place, the relationship between the players and the fanbase is being tested like never before.

Szoboszlai has previously acknowledged that the team is impacted by fans leaving Anfield early, but this direct confrontation at the Etihad indicates that the strain of a failing season is finally taking its toll on the dressing room.
