Three Unexpected Players Who Might Depart Arsenal This Summer as Andrea Berta Initiates Squad Overhaul

As Andrea Berta embarks on a squad reconstruction, three unforeseen players might leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

As Andrea Berta steps into the role of sporting director, Arsenal faces the possibility of three surprising departures this summer.

The Gunners are anticipated to be active in the upcoming summer transfer window, with reports indicating that Mikel Arteta aims to strengthen the squad for the four competitions next season.

However, to facilitate new arrivals, some current players may need to exit.

There is speculation about a potential unexpected exit from north London, involving a player who has been receiving significant playing time.

This player might either choose to leave or the club could receive an irresistible offer.

The identity of this player remains uncertain at this point, but new sporting director Andrea Berta is likely to play a crucial role in these decisions.

With over two months remaining in the current season before the transfer window opens, the full extent of potential moves is yet to be revealed.

Nevertheless, football.london has identified three players who could fit this scenario.

Leandro Trossard

The Belgian forward has made more starts this season than in any previous campaign with Arsenal, largely due to injuries affecting key players like Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli.

Even Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri have missed time, forcing Trossard into various roles throughout the season.

Despite his versatility, he has struggled to replicate the performance levels of last season.

Last year, he scored 17 goals across all competitions, contributing significantly to the team’s efforts against Manchester City.

This season, however, he has netted only six goals.

A bid from Saudi Arabia was rejected after the summer transfer window closed in England, but a renewed offer in 2025 could entice the club, especially with targets like Nico Williams, another left winger, on their summer agenda.

Gabriel Martinelli

Remaining on the left wing, if Trossard is not the one to exit for another potential candidate, it may be Gabriel Martinelli who faces departure.

Suggesting this three years ago would have led to disbelief regarding the possibility of Martinelli leaving.

Nevertheless, the Brazilian, who will turn 24 in June, continues to experience challenges in the final third and has also dealt with a hamstring injury this season.

Martinelli is likely the club’s most valuable asset that they might consider replacing, especially given their interest in specific targets for the left forward position.

William Saliba

This presents a concerning situation, as Real Madrid’s interest in Saliba is well-known.

When asked how he could reassure fans about his future, he expressed his happiness and desire to stay.

However, if his contract remains unsigned and discussions do not progress, a substantial offer from Los Blancos could be difficult to refuse, especially if he shows any inclination to leave or not renew with the club.

The primary focus should be on extending his contract rather than selling him, but realistically, Arsenal cannot afford to let such a valuable player leave for free at the end of his contract.
