Unai Emery provides a fitness update prior to Aston Villa’s match against Liverpool

Aston Villa has announced several fitness updates ahead of their Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.

During his pre-match press conference (as reported by liverpoolfc.com), Unai Emery disclosed that Emiliano Buendia will be unavailable for the game due to an injury sustained during Villa’s 1–0 victory over Manchester City.

“He is not available for tomorrow, but the injury he has is progressing well,” Emery informed the media. “I believe that with a few more days, he could be fit and ready for the upcoming matches, hopefully.”

Villa will also be without Harvey Elliott, who cannot play against his parent club due to the terms of his loan agreement.

The 22-year-old has made a good impression off the field since his loan move from Liverpool, but he has struggled to secure regular playing time in the Midlands.

On the other hand, Arne Slot’s team may see the return of Ryan Gravenberch, who has resumed full training, although Curtis Jones and Alexander Isak are expected to be absent due to injuries.

This update comes after Slot’s press conference earlier today, where he expressed cautious optimism regarding Gravenberch’s recovery.

In their last Premier League match, Villa narrowly defeated Manchester City with a goal from Ollie Watkins, while Liverpool suffered a 3–2 defeat away at Brentford – setting the stage for an intense encounter under the lights at Anfield.
