“They are”: Rio Ferdinand shares his Premier League title forecast for Arsenal after Liverpool’s latest defeat.

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has expressed his Premier League title forecast for Arsenal following Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to the Red Devils at Anfield.

The Gunners found themselves five points behind the champions after the fifth week of the season, but a remarkable turnaround has occurred in the last three matches.

Arsenal has surged to the top of the league, now holding a four-point advantage over Arne Slot’s team, who have unexpectedly lost three consecutive top-flight matches.

Currently, Mikel Arteta’s squad is three points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. Ferdinand believes they are the frontrunners for the title this season.

During a Q&A on his YouTube channel, he remarked: “I mentioned before the season started that this is Arsenal’s opportunity to claim the league.

“I felt they needed to achieve it this year and could not settle for second place again. They possess an excellent group of players, arguably the deepest squad in the league.

“They made smart signings in the summer and found a way to win against Fulham yesterday. They are my top pick to win the Premier League.”

Arsenal gains early edge in title race

The Gunners failed to take advantage of Liverpool’s weaknesses last season. The match against Aston Villa exemplified this, as they drew despite leading 2-0 at one point.

A similar situation arose at Newcastle United this season, but they demonstrated their title credentials. Mikel Merino equalised before Gabriel scored a dramatic winner in stoppage time.

Arsenal now enjoys a comfortable three-point lead over Manchester City, while they are four points ahead of Liverpool. City and Liverpool will clash at the Etihad Stadium before the upcoming international break.

Before that, City will face Aston Villa and Bournemouth (away and home). Liverpool will play at Brentford before welcoming a strong Villa side. None of these matches will be easy.

The Gunners, conversely, are set to play a home match against Crystal Palace prior to their away games against newcomers Burnley and Sunderland. On the surface, Arsenal appears to have a more favorable schedule ahead.

The loyal supporters of the Gunners will be optimistic that the team can maintain their winning momentum. Extending their three-point advantage at the top before the last international break of the year would significantly enhance Arsenal’s confidence.
