Sources: Arsenal preparing to make contact to sign “world-class” £84m striker Berta wants…

Arsenal is reportedly on the verge of making contact to pursue a “world-class” striker, with a valuation of £84 million, as sought by Berta.
Arsenal is gearing up to initiate discussions aimed at securing the signing of “world-class” striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has been highlighted as a primary target by sporting director Andrea Berta.
This comes shortly after Berta’s recent visit to the Emirates Stadium, as reported by GIVEMESPORT sources.
Under the management of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has demonstrated a willingness to invest significantly, exemplified by Declan Rice’s record-breaking £105 million transfer from West Ham United in July 2023.
However, the club’s pursuit of a Premier League title remains unfulfilled.
Berta is poised to spearhead Arsenal’s recruitment efforts when the transfer window reopens this summer.
He was selected as the top candidate to succeed Edu after a thorough interview process, and Gyokeres is among the players he is considering.
Berta Advocates for Gyokeres Acquisition
The Swedish international has been proposed by the sporting director as a potential signing.
According to GMS sources, Arsenal plans to commence negotiations to acquire Gyokeres as they intensify their search for a new leading striker.
Berta is advocating for a move to secure the Sporting star as part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming season.
While it is known that the 26-year-old has a release clause estimated at around £84 million in his contract with Sporting, there is optimism that he can be signed for a lower amount.
Additionally, the prospect of returning to the Premier League, following his previous stint with Brighton & Hove Albion, may entice him.
GMS sources indicate that Arsenal is preparing to reach out regarding Gyokeres, who has had another outstanding season with Sporting. Berta has recommended him as a potential signing as he has been tasked with enhancing the team’s offensive options ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Gunners’ management has assured that their budget will accommodate the acquisition of the Swedish international. Meetings are anticipated in the near future to discuss his personal requirements and the fee necessary to finalize an agreement with his current club.
After recognizing the challenges in persuading Newcastle United to part with Alexander Isak, Arsenal has shifted its focus to alternative targets. GMS sources reveal that Gyokeres and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko are now seen as more viable candidates for a move to the Emirates Stadium.
North Londoners Gain Advantage in Gyokeres Chase
Premier League rivals not rushing negotiations
According to GMS sources, Arsenal has received a significant advantage in their pursuit of Gyokeres, as Manchester United has opted not to prioritize him and is not in a hurry to negotiate if Arsenal accelerates their efforts to secure him.
Despite the former Coventry City striker being labeled ‘world-class’ due to his performances with Sporting, he does not seem to be a primary target for Manchester United, even though there have been rumors of him potentially reuniting with former coach Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
While Manchester United has contemplated competing with Arsenal for Gyokeres, GMS sources suggest that they are more frequently discussing Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap as potential signings.
Recent reports from GMS indicate that the Gunners may find themselves in a bidding war with several Premier League competitors if they decide to pursue Hugo Ekitike.
This comes as Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt aims to leverage the significant interest in the player to their benefit.
