Arne Slot remarked that Liverpool possesses a player who is simply ‘physically special’ following their victory against Inter Milan.

Dominik Szoboszlai took responsibility to convert a crucial late penalty, securing a 1-0 win for Liverpool over Inter Milan in the Champions League.

After a match that was mostly uneventful, except for Ibrahima Konate having a first-half goal disallowed by VAR, Liverpool was awarded a late penalty.

Liverpool’s regular penalty-taker, Mo Salah, was not present, having remained in Merseyside following his controversial interview after last Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

He is one of the few players who has participated in four games over the last 10 days. Perhaps Ibou has also played 90 minutes consistently alongside Virgil, but they occupy different positions, so centre-backs typically do not cover as much ground as midfielders are required to.

“What he is accomplishing physically is remarkable, but it’s also significant in terms of football. He played exceptionally well and rose to the occasion during a challenging moment. It’s not easy to take your first penalty for Liverpool in the 86th minute, especially in a match that was tied at 0-0.

That makes it a noteworthy moment. He has a powerful shot and executed it well, as he has taken many penalties for his national team and previous clubs as well.

Despite a challenging start to the season, Liverpool has now gone four matches without a loss. However, Slot remains cautious. He remarked, ‘It’s hard to predict the future.

We needed those points. We understand how tough it is to play here, as they have been incredibly strong in this stadium, both in the league and certainly in the Champions League.

‘It’s a fantastic result, similar to what we achieved against Real Madrid. It’s not amusing, but it’s strange that we’ve had several remarkable results this season; for instance, defeating Arsenal, Real Madrid, Newcastle away, and Aston Villa, who had won 10 consecutive matches and only lost to us.

This is why it’s so surprising to see us drop points in so many other matches, although there are various factors contributing to that, and one of them is what I just mentioned.”
