Sky Sports reporter has just released a significant update regarding Alexander Isak’s potential move to Liverpool.

Keith Downie, a reporter for Sky Sports, has provided a major new update on Liverpool’s interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The Swedish player has been the Reds’ ideal attacking target throughout the summer, but the Magpies have been resolute in their attempts to retain him.

However, there is now a notable advantage for Liverpool in their efforts to acquire Isak before the transfer window closes, as Newcastle is nearing a deal for VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade.

In a post on X, Downie stated that a transfer is imminent, with Newcastle also pursuing Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, which could allow Isak to “get his wish” if Liverpool makes a second bid for him:

Newcastle is still aiming to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford to partner with Nick Woltemade. NUFC will not sign both Woltemade and Jorgen Strand Larsen due to their similar playing styles. Liverpool is now anticipated to submit a record-breaking second offer for Alexander Isak, fulfilling the striker’s desire. The dominoes are falling.

Could this be the perfect conclusion to a successful summer for Liverpool?

This is significant news for both Liverpool and Isak, as the Reds aim to secure one of the world’s top strikers – a player whom Alan Shearer has praised, stating:

“His runs are exceptional. If you observe how intelligent he is when he doesn’t receive the initial pass, he then moves behind a defender to return and adjust his run to ensure he is onside, allowing him to execute a clever finish.

“He can also drop deep, posing different challenges to defenders by asking: ‘Will you follow me or will you fall back?’ If you choose to drop back, he has the capability to exploit that opportunity.”

It is hoped that Liverpool’s second offer is forthcoming, leading to Newcastle’s acceptance, which could represent a transformative move for the Premier League champions.

If the Reds manage to secure the signing of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi before Monday concludes, it would arguably mark the finest summer of transfers in the club’s history.
