Romano reveals stunning Newcastle expectation for Isak as Liverpool ready £130m bid…
Romano has disclosed remarkable expectations from Newcastle regarding Isak as Liverpool prepares a £130m bid.
Liverpool is set to make a record-breaking £130m offer for Alexander Isak, and Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest updates on Newcastle’s position.
Isak has reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Liverpool and is determined to secure a transfer to Anfield before the September 1 deadline.
Newcastle promptly rejected Liverpool’s initial offer of £110m plus add-ons for Isak. The Magpies have publicly stated that the Swedish player is not for sale, yet their efforts to sign several new strikers indicate that they are at least contemplating his departure.
Isak has declared that he will never play for Newcastle again, even if he remains with the club after the transfer window closes.
Lee Ryder from The Chronicle recently articulated why it would be illogical for Newcastle to hold onto Isak from a financial standpoint if Liverpool indeed follows through with a £130m offer. TEAMtalk has reported that a £130m bid is being prepared and is imminent.
Ryder also mentioned that a resolution to this summer’s most significant transfer saga is anticipated shortly after Newcastle faces Liverpool in a Premier League match on Monday night.
According to Romano’s latest insights, the control in this ongoing saga still lies with Newcastle, who, despite recent developments, expect Isak to return to training following tonight’s match.
“The [match] between Newcastle and Liverpool is approaching,” Romano stated during his YouTube channel discussion. “This will be a crucial moment as it may conclude the narrative between Newcastle and Liverpool, and from Tuesday onward, we will gain more clarity on Isak’s situation – whether he will join Liverpool or if Newcastle will retain him.
“Internally, Newcastle hopes that after the game this week, Isak can resume training. They are genuinely optimistic about this.
“They have a strong belief that they can persuade Isak to return to training after the game.
Liverpool is maintaining its stance – they are interested in Isak, they will pursue him, but the outcome hinges on Newcastle.
“This situation is entirely contingent on Newcastle. Isak desires to join Liverpool, and Liverpool is willing to meet the financial demands, but it is Newcastle that holds the decision-making power and they will do everything possible to retain the player.”
Romano further emphasized that the “technical staff” at Newcastle are hopeful that Isak will return to training in the days following tonight’s crucial match against Liverpool.
Will Isak remain or depart?
The prevailing view this summer is that Newcastle will only consider selling Isak if they can secure two new forwards. With Callum Wilson’s departure, the club finds itself in urgent need of recognized strikers.
Despite several high-profile rejections, the Magpies have yet to sign a single new striker, let alone two.
They have reached an agreement on personal terms with Yoane Wissa, but Brentford is now asking for over £50m, potentially reaching £60m for the 28-year-old. Newcastle’s latest offer was £40m (£35m plus £5m in add-ons).
Eddie Howe’s team is also actively pursuing Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea) and Alexander Sorloth (Atletico Madrid).
Additionally, Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen, PSG’s Goncalo Ramos, and Porto’s Samu Aghehowa are included in their list of targets.
As for Liverpool, a recent report from the Liverpool Echo strongly indicated that the Reds will NOT seek an alternative if they fail to secure Isak.
Instead of opting for a lesser plan B, Liverpool is expected to make another attempt for Isak in January.
This situation would be reminiscent of what happened with Virgil van Dijk.
After failing to acquire their primary centre-back target in the summer of 2017, Liverpool chose not to pursue a less prominent alternative and successfully signed Van Dijk in the subsequent transfer window.
