Riccardo Calafiori, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus – Updates on Arsenal Injuries and Expected Return Dates.
Here are the latest updates on injuries as Arsenal prepares for their Premier League comeback next month.
As Arsenal gears up to face Fulham at the beginning of April, they may be missing up to five players.
Due to the international break and the FA Cup quarter-finals, the Gunners will not play again until April 1.
Currently sitting 12 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, Arsenal will be eager to close the gap when they resume play in just over a week.
However, they will likely be without Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kai Havertz, and potentially Bukayo Saka for the match against Fulham.
Additionally, Riccardo Calafiori has emerged as a new injury concern after leaving the field with an injury while playing for Italy.
Here, football.london provides the latest information on Arsenal’s injured players and their potential return timelines.
Bukayo Saka
Saka is making significant strides in his recovery from a severe hamstring injury sustained in late December and may return to the pitch before the season concludes.
The England international has been sidelined for Arsenal’s last 13 Premier League matches due to this injury, but earlier this month, Arteta shared an encouraging update regarding the forward’s progress.
“He’s getting closer,” Arteta stated. “He’s stepping up and making very good progress, I would say.”
Expected return: Before the end of the season
Riccardo Calafiori
Calafiori had to leave the field due to an apparent injury during the final moments of Italy’s match against Germany on Thursday. He slipped, causing his knee to buckle.
The defender received medical attention but was unable to continue. Italy’s head coach, Luciano Spalletti, commented, “He mentioned that his knee feels strange, but he cannot provide a more precise answer, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
Calafiori is expected to undergo evaluation by Italy’s medical team ahead of the second leg of their Nations League quarter-final against Germany.
Expected return: Unknown
Gabriel Jesus
Since suffering an ACL injury during Arsenal’s FA Cup loss to Manchester United in early January, Jesus has been sidelined. The club has announced that he will be unavailable for a considerable period, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Expected return: Next season
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Last month, Tomiyasu revealed that he had undergone knee surgery, which is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Expected return: Next season
Kai Havertz
Havertz’s season came to a harsh conclusion due to a hamstring injury sustained during Arsenal’s mid-season training camp in the Middle East.
The club has confirmed that the German international will be out of action until the beginning of the 2025/26 season.
After his surgery, Havertz shared on Instagram: “The last few days have been challenging both physically and mentally. However, yesterday was a positive day with a successful operation and a victory.
“I appreciate all the supportive messages over the past few days; they have truly helped. I am now dedicated to my recovery and will continue to support the team from behind the scenes.”
Expected return: Next season
