A world-class talent is poised to join Liverpool as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with a €40 million agreement already in place.

The arrival of this exceptional winger seems imminent, signaling a significant change for the club as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to depart.

Change is an inevitable part of life, and while we understand this, the past year has been particularly challenging for Liverpool fans.

With Jurgen Klopp’s departure and now Alexander-Arnold’s impending exit, the situation feels even more daunting.

To complicate matters, Alexander-Arnold will leave on a free transfer to join Real Madrid, Liverpool’s longstanding rival, a team that has bested the Reds in two Champions League finals during his tenure.

In a surprising twist, Harry Kane has expressed a desire to join Liverpool.

Finding a suitable replacement for Alexander-Arnold is no simple task; his contributions are unmatched. However, one player appears to be on the verge of joining the club this summer to help fill that gap.

Why Jeremie Frimpong is set to join Liverpool

Frimpong gained attention during the recent international break when he greeted his teammate Cody Gakpo with a Scouse accent at the Netherlands’ training camp.

For some time, he has hinted at his interest in Liverpool. In a recent interview with Rising Ballers, he shared that he initially wanted to join Liverpool when he was first discovered at the grassroots level, but ultimately signed with Manchester City due to his parents’ reluctance to travel to the Reds’ training facility in Kirkby.

In February of last year, he was asked about the possibility of joining Liverpool and referred to it as a fantastic opportunity.

“Liverpool? A great club with a rich history. That would be amazing. Who knows what the future holds?” Frimpong stated, according to Soccer News.

Furthermore, One Football reported on July 10, 2024, that Frimpong has set his sights firmly on a move to Anfield.

Reflecting on a training session from March 2024, Frimpong humorously mentioned scoring the final penalty against Liverpool in the Europa League final, as noted by the Ons Oranje YouTube channel.

“Europa League final, last penalty against Liverpool,” Frimpong was heard saying.

If it were up to him, Frimpong would eagerly accept an opportunity to join Liverpool, as indicated by his earlier remarks.

Considering Liverpool’s current options, it’s clear that the Reds would also be keen to secure Frimpong’s signature.

While there may be some concerns regarding his defensive capabilities, his offensive skills are exceptional. He is a dynamic player who would add significant depth to Arne Slot’s squad.

In the Bundesliga, he ranks second in sprints with 798 and covers over 10 kilometers per 90 minutes this season.

Recently, Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk reported that Slot has been in contact with Frimpong, and there is an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for him to leave the club this summer for €40 million, which aligns with his release clause.

This seems like the kind of cost-effective acquisition Liverpool would pursue.

Frimpong offers a different style of play compared to Alexander-Arnold. While he may not match the same level of creativity, he brings more energy and a wealth of attacking options.

He remains a world-class talent and is among the top players in his position today.

At this point, it appears almost certain that he will be donning the Liverpool jersey at Anfield next season.
