€71m Liverpool target submits transfer request and is anticipated to leave for a reduced fee – report.

A player targeted by Liverpool, worth €71 million, has put in a transfer request and is projected to leave for a more affordable price.

Liverpool has been on the lookout for a left-winger for some time, and Jamie Gittens could be the perfect fit for their needs.

The former Manchester City academy player has been making waves at Borussia Dortmund, following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.

Gittens has garnered interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool, who are reportedly keen on acquiring him.

Additionally, Liverpool is eager to secure a left-winger, as Anfield Watch has disclosed that Luis Diaz will be available for transfer this summer, prompting the club to seek a replacement for the Colombian.

For some time, Liverpool has aimed to enhance their left-wing position. During the January transfer window, they considered Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but ultimately decided against signing the Georgian player.

However, with Gittens, Liverpool’s approach may change.

Jamie Gittens submits transfer request

In a significant development, German journalist Patrick Berger has reported that Jamie Gittens has submitted a transfer request ahead of the summer transfer window at Dortmund.

Berger indicates that Gittens is eager to leave the German club, and Dortmund has acknowledged that he will be departing this summer.

His report further suggests that Gittens will be available for a much lower price than Dortmund’s previous valuation, following a disappointing second half of the season, and that he prefers a move to a Premier League team.

Currently valued at €71m by Football Transfers, he could potentially be acquired by the Reds for an even lower amount, making him a remarkable bargain.

Despite a lackluster second half of the season, Gittens’ performance may have been affected by his focus on his future and a potential exit from Signal Iduna Park.

Liverpool should not be discouraged from pursuing the 20-year-old, who qualifies as a homegrown player in the Premier League and would certainly represent an improvement over Diaz.

Gittens stands out as one of the most proficient dribblers in the Bundesliga, having completed the highest number of take-ons (76) in the league this season.

He also leads in dribbles per 90 minutes with an average of 8.8 and boasts the second-best dribble success rate among players who average at least five dribbles per 90 minutes (62.28%).

This one-on-one skill set is precisely what Arne Slot seeks in his wingers. At Feyenoord, he consistently employed direct wingers known for their traditional wing play.

Gittens possesses a quick burst of speed and the agility to change direction swiftly, allowing him to create opportunities for his teammates and penetrate even the toughest defenses.

However, there is room for improvement in his overall play. He averages only 25 passes per 90 minutes, which is lower than what would be expected from a winger in Slot’s system.

Nonetheless, these are areas that can be developed, and it is reasonable to not expect Gittens to be fully polished at his age.

He does have the potential to become an exceptional attacker, making this a logical move for the Reds.

Given Gittens’ recent actions, he appears to be quite receptive to this possibility as well.
