Report: Liverpool midfielder suffers hamstring injury

Arne Slot faces increasing challenges as another midfielder joins the injury list.

Liverpool has encountered a series of injury issues since the beginning of the season.

Players like Jeremie Frimpong, Alexis Mac Allister, and Curtis Jones have missed various matches due to different injuries.

However, two significant injuries are currently overshadowing the squad’s situation. Alisson Becker, 33, is anticipated to be sidelined until after the November international break due to a hamstring injury sustained against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Additionally, Giovanni Leoni, 18, was injured during his debut against Southampton in the EFL Cup.

Endo was injured in the match against Chelsea.

The £26m acquisition from Parma has suffered an ACL tear and will not return this season. Arne Slot is hoping to avoid a full-blown injury crisis and is not pleased about losing any more first-team players.

A report has now surfaced confirming the severity of Wataru Endo’s recent injury. The 32-year-old Japanese captain was withdrawn from national team duties earlier this month due to injury.

According to a report from Jiji.com, it appears to be a hamstring injury that is keeping the Liverpool midfielder out of action.

Endo is absent from international duty.

“He sustained the injury while sprinting after coming on as a substitute in the match against Chelsea,” the report states.

This is the last thing Slot needs, as he has depended on Endo to secure matches over the past year.

He has also been expected to provide emergency cover at centre-back, having played extensively in that position earlier in his career.

Let’s hope his withdrawal is merely a precaution and that he will be fit to play when Manchester United visits Anfield on October 19.

Endo has become a cult figure since joining Anfield from Stuttgart in the summer of 2023, winning the EFL Cup in his first season and adding the Premier League title to his accolades last term.
