Arsenal is now targeting another top midfielder following Riccardo Calafiori.

Arsenal’s pursuit of top talent continues as they set their sights on signing one of the best midfielders globally, following Riccardo Calafiori.

According to a recent report, Arsenal is now eyeing a top-tier midfielder to add to their squad.

The North London club is close to finalizing a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, their first signing of the summer.

After his standout performances at Euro 2024, it seems that Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing the Bologna defender to the Emirates.

With the Calafiori deal set to be completed soon, Arsenal may shift their focus towards securing a deal for a highly-regarded midfielder.

Arsenal is interested in acquiring Joao Neves. As reported by O Jogo, via The Standard, Arsenal has recently entered the competition to sign Benfica’s Joao Neves, who is regarded as one of the top midfielders in the world.

Manchester United is eager to add the 19-year-old to their team this summer, but they now have to compete with Arteta’s team.

Liverpool is also in the running for his signature, which is anticipated to require the full £84m release clause.

The young prodigy from Portugal made his first appearance for the national team in September and participated in two matches during the European Championships held in Germany.

Arsenal is not expected to secure the services of Joao Neves. The chances of Neves joining the team this summer appear to be very slim.

Due to the significant investment made in Declan Rice last year, Arsenal has already decided that Victor Osimhen is too costly.

This indicates that the club’s budget will be quite restricted for any further signings.

The top signing is expected to be a striker, with ongoing rumors connecting them to Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres.

If they manage to negotiate with Benfica and lower the price to around £60m, a potential deal could be on the horizon.

However, if the current asking price remains high, they will need to shift their focus to other players within their budget.

Mikel Merino, currently representing Spain at Euro 2024, has also been a subject of intense speculation.
