Arteta eyes 22-goal striker as alternative to Jesus – report

Arteta is now eyeing a 22-goal striker who holds Arsenal in high regard as a backup choice to Jesus, according to a report.

Arteta is interested in a 22-goal striker who admires Arsenal as a different choice to Jesus.

Mikel Arteta is considering Ajax’s Brian Brobbey as an alternative to Gabriel Jesus in attack, with Arsenal reportedly planning a summer transfer move for the Dutch international.

The 22-year-old had an impressive season in the Eredivisie, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 43 matches across all competitions.

Brobbey’s form has also caught the attention of his former manager Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, with both clubs preparing for a £30 million battle with Arsenal for his signature.

Despite interest from Italian clubs, Brobbey has expressed his desire for a move to the Premier League, singling out Arsenal as one of the clubs he admires.

Jesus has been plagued by frequent injuries since his move to Arsenal from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, causing frustration for Arteta.

As a result, the Spaniard had to resort to deploying Kai Havertz as a number 9 last season, despite initially recruiting him as a replacement for Granit Xhaka.

In an effort to strengthen their attacking lineup, the Gunners are looking to bring in Brobbey this summer, as they aim to bounce back from missing out on the Premier League title for the second year in a row.

The Dutchman is known for his exceptional finishing abilities and adeptness in passing, honed during his time in the youth ranks of Ajax.

Brobbey showcases impressive strength, speed on the ball, and the capability to swiftly advance the ball forward, qualities that would greatly benefit Arsenal’s attacking lineup.

Even though he is only 5ft 11in tall, the striker excels in jumping ability and poses a threat in aerial duels.

His physical attributes have led to comparisons with renowned players such as Didier Drogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Romelu Lukaku, making him a potentially valuable addition for Arsenal to enhance their performance in the upcoming season.
