Report: Arsenal is now targeting a ‘spectacular’ £60 million striker instead of pursuing Isak.

Arsenal has shifted its focus to pursuing a ‘phenomenal’ £60 million striker rather than Isak.

Arsenal is considering a move for Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike as a potential alternative to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, as reported by The Sun.

The Gunners are eager to bolster their attacking options this summer following significant injuries to key players Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Bukayo Saka, which hindered their title ambitions earlier in the season.

While Isak is viewed as Arsenal’s primary target, with manager Mikel Arteta expressing strong admiration for him, Ekitike has gained attention after an impressive season in the Bundesliga.

With Newcastle valuing Isak at approximately £150m, Arsenal is concerned they may be priced out of a deal, as the Magpies are reluctant to part with the 25-year-old.

This situation has prompted club officials to explore other options, leading them to Ekitike, who has netted 19 goals for Frankfurt this season after transferring from Paris Saint-Germain.

Following a hat-trick for the France Under-21 team against England during the latest international break, Frankfurt anticipates significant interest in Ekitike, setting his price at £60m.

Regarded as ‘insane’ for his performances this season, Ekitike appeals to Arsenal due to his versatility across the forward line and his favorable age. However, they will face competition from several other Premier League clubs.

New transfer chief Andrea Berta is expected to focus on securing a striker this summer, and if Isak is unavailable, Ekitike may become a more pressing target.

Additionally, Benjamin Sesko and Randal Kolo Muani have been mentioned as potential signings for the Emirates Stadium, but it is well known that Arteta prioritizes Isak, who is reportedly interested in joining Arsenal.
