Report: Arsenal initiates discussions with a unique £43 million attacking prospect.

Arsenal, led by sporting director Edu, has commenced initial negotiations for the acquisition of a new forward, valued at £43 million, under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta.

Edu’s primary objective this summer is to secure a fresh attacking option, as the Gunners aim to strengthen their squad in four key areas during the upcoming transfer window, which commences on June 14.

Alongside the pursuit of a new forward, Edu is also focused on recruiting a goalkeeper to replace Aaron Ramsdale, as well as bolstering the team’s defense and midfield options (Simon Collings).

Last season, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz collectively contributed 51 goals across all competitions, with Arsenal impressively tallying a total of 91 league goals throughout the 2023/2024 campaign.

Their attacking prowess played a significant role in Arteta’s team challenging Manchester City until the final day of the season, particularly during the latter half of the year when the Gunners appeared virtually unstoppable in their offensive endeavors.

However, Arteta and Edu are reportedly exploring fresh attacking options to take Arsenal to the next level and secure a Premier League title. Despite narrowly missing out to City in recent years, the club is determined to strengthen their squad.

One potential target for Arsenal is Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. Alongside him, they are also considering Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

It seems likely that a natural number nine will be joining Hale End this summer. In addition to a striker, Edu has been keeping an eye on attacking midfielders, including Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

Now, a new name has emerged as an intriguing prospect at the Emirates Stadium – Desire Doue from Rennes.

Reports suggest that Arsenal have initiated talks with Doue’s representatives, as per Sport Zone and Sport Witness. However, Manchester United is also said to be in contact with the player’s camp.

The 18-year-old featured in 31 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes during the 2023/2024 season, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He was also a regular presence in the team during the 2022/2023 season.

Rennes has produced talents like Jeremy Doku and Eduardo Camavinga, who went on to join top clubs like Man City and Real Madrid. It seems that Doue could be the next promising player to come out of Roazhan Park, with a market value of up to €50m (£43m).

Teammates of the young player have high hopes for his future, praising his skills and predicting that he will become unstoppable once he achieves more consistency on the field.

“He’s an incredibly talented player with a deep understanding of the game,” commented Stade Rennais midfielder Baptiste Santamaria. “Although he is still young, he has the ambition to play for the biggest clubs.

His unique style combines power and finesse, making him a remarkable player. Once he finds more consistency, he will be a force to be reckoned with. In my career, I have never seen such a gifted young player at his age.”
