Andrea Berta is urging Arsenal to secure a £51 million midfielder to complement Martin Zubimendi.

Andrea Berta is reportedly urging Arsenal to secure the signing of a £51 million midfielder alongside Martin Zubimendi.

Having attempted to sign him on three separate occasions, Berta is actively working on Arsenal’s incoming transfers.

The club is expected to prioritize midfield reinforcements for the upcoming season, with reports from AS suggesting they may pursue two new signings in the next transfer window.

With Thomas Partey and Jorginho likely to depart when their contracts end on June 30, Arsenal is already in advanced discussions with the representatives of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who has a release clause set at £51 million.

Although negotiations with Sociedad for a lower fee have yet to commence, the Gunners are optimistic about securing the Spaniard’s move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Additionally, incoming sporting director Andrea Berta is also interested in acquiring Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, having previously attempted to sign him.

Berta had shown interest in Guimaraes during his tenure at Atletico Madrid, making three attempts to recruit him from Audax to Lyon, but was unsuccessful.

While Guimaraes is reportedly content at Newcastle, he has a gentleman’s agreement that allows him to leave for £51 million if the club fails to qualify for the next season’s Champions League.

Securing Guimaraes would represent a significant statement for Arsenal. The club has long admired Zubimendi and previously sought to sign him, but the midfielder opted to remain with his childhood club.

However, he now seems ready to embrace a new challenge this summer, presenting Arsenal with a promising opportunity to bring him to the Premier League.

Arsenal’s ambitions extend further with the potential acquisition of Guimaraes, who has proven himself as one of the top central midfielders in the English Premier League.

The Brazilian player averages 6.8 duels, 4.9 recoveries, and two tackles per league match.

Additionally, he has successfully completed 58 percent of his dribbles, resulting in the creation of 11 significant scoring opportunities.

At 27 years old, he has contributed to 11 goals this season, with nine of those in league play.

His acquisition would represent a significant statement for the Gunners, although negotiating a deal may prove challenging.

Currently, fifth place in the league may be sufficient for securing a spot in the Champions League.

The Magpies are presently trailing Manchester City only on goal difference.
