Newcastle Preparing £50 Million Offer for Sporting Striker: Report…
Newcastle United is reportedly preparing a £50 million bid for a striker from Sporting CP: Report
The club is focusing on Luis Suarez, which makes sense as Newcastle urgently needs to strengthen their forward line ahead of the 2026/27 season—or rejuvenate the current squad.
Journalist Sebastián Vidal has indicated that Newcastle has initiated plans for a potential Suarez transfer that could amount to £50 million.
Vidal stated on X, “According to multiple sources, Newcastle is gearing up for a significant summer acquisition. The Magpies are pursuing Sporting CP striker Luis Suárez. This deal could be around £50 million, making it the club’s most significant transfer in the upcoming window.
Suarez has been impressive in Portugal this season, with the Colombian international netting 29 goals and providing six assists in 37 matches across all competitions, leading into the Champions League Round of 16 against Bodo/Glimt.
Sporting acquired the 28-year-old from Almería last summer, and he is contracted until 2030, which suggests that the Portuguese club will demand a substantial fee for his transfer so soon after his arrival.
Suarez is known for his combination of physical strength and agile movement in the penalty area, attributes that Newcastle would certainly value and are prioritizing as they search for attacking talent.
The report indicates that Suarez would consider a move to a more prominent European league if a suitable offer arises, especially as he approaches the peak years of his career.
With Newcastle currently relying on Nick Woltemade, Yoane Wissa, and makeshift striker Anthony Gordon as their primary goal scorers, it is clear that action is necessary during the summer transfer window.
At this point, no official bid has been made, and Sporting’s position regarding a potential deal is still ambiguous. Vidal’s report characterizes the situation as preliminary rather than progressed, indicating that negotiations have not yet commenced and that there are still more than three months until the transfer market opens for Premier League teams.
