“Negotiations are taking place” – Fabrizio Romano has shared a major update on Arsenal’s ongoing negotiations…
Arsenal’s negotiations have been updated by Fabrizio Romano with a major announcement
Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on the negotiations involving Arsenal.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal is currently engaged in talks with manager Mikel Arteta regarding a potential new contract.
Under Arteta’s leadership, the team has made significant progress, including a return to the Champions League and a close pursuit of their first league title in nearly two decades.
Despite finishing just two points behind Manchester City last season, negotiations for a new deal between Arteta and the club are ongoing, with both parties reportedly calm about the situation.
Last season, the Gunners ended up just two points shy of league champions Manchester City.
This marked a significant improvement from the previous campaign, where they were trailing their rivals by five points in their first title challenge under Arteta.
Arteta in talks for contract extension
Romano reports that negotiations are underway between Arteta and the club for a new contract. The current deal, signed in 2022 and valued at £9m annually and £173,000 per week as per the Daily Mail, is due to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming season.
However, there is no urgency to finalize new terms as both parties are content with the current situation.
Negotiations are ongoing with discussions taking place, but there is no sense of urgency or panic from either side as they are both content and Arteta is extremely satisfied at Arsenal.
Even when there were rumors linking him to the Barcelona job in February and March, he never entertained any talks with other clubs, as his sole focus remains on Arsenal’s project.
After retiring from football in 2016, he joined Manchester City’s coaching staff under Pep Guardiola, contributing to their success in winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups. He later returned to Arsenal as the manager.
Arsenal in talks with Sevilla over Lokonga loan
Arsenal is reportedly in discussions with La Liga team Sevilla regarding a potential loan move for Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who is currently under contract with Arsenal until 2026, has attracted interest from the Spanish club.
Negotiations are said to be ongoing, with Sevilla already having an agreement in place with the player.
However, the two clubs are facing a hurdle as Arsenal is pushing for an obligation to buy at the end of the loan, while Sevilla is only interested in an option to buy.
Lokonga initially joined Arsenal from Anderlecht, a Belgian club, in 2021. He has since been loaned out to Crystal Palace and, most recently, Luton Town in the Premier League.
