Mikel Arteta says Arsenal could be without FOUR key defenders for the clash vs Real Madrid…
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the team might be without four key defenders for the match against Real Madrid.
According to Mikel Arteta, Arsenal might face the challenge of playing against Real Madrid without four important defenders.
Mikel Arteta provides an injury update on Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has shared concerning news regarding defenders Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber as the team prepares for their upcoming match against Real Madrid.
Both players sustained injuries during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Fulham, where Bukayo Saka made a notable return by scoring.
Gabriel experienced a hamstring issue just 15 minutes into the match at the Emirates Stadium. He received on-field treatment but was unable to continue, leading to his substitution by Jakub Kiwior.
Timber also appeared to be in distress about half an hour into the game after attempting to block a shot from Raul Jimenez. Although he managed to stay on the field initially, he was later replaced by Leandro Trossard due to ongoing discomfort.
As Arsenal prepares to face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final next week, the uncertainty surrounding two key defenders raises concerns.
In his post-match press conference, Arteta informed the media, “We are uncertain about Gabriel and Jurrien’s conditions.
We will evaluate them tomorrow. Gabi felt something in his hamstring, but we are unsure of the severity. Jurrien was already having difficulties early on and could not continue.”
Additionally, Ben White was absent from the squad due to a minor injury, and Riccardo Calafiori is also out with a knee issue, creating a significant defensive dilemma for Arsenal in a crucial match.
The remaining defensive options for Arsenal include William Saliba, Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney, with Thomas Partey also available as a right-back alternative.
Injuries update
Gabriel – hamstring
Jurrien Timber – knee
Ben White – knee
Riccardo Calafiori – knee
