Midfielder aims to join Arsenal – Prepared to turn down several Champions League giants for the Gunners

AC Milan must surpass Arsenal to secure Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal was one of the teams that considered the midfielder in the winter transfer market, but a deal did not materialize.

The Germany international’s contract is set to expire in June, and he has already declared his intention to leave Bayern Munich as a free agent at the end of this season.

So far this season, Goretzka has accumulated 1,775 minutes across 37 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists. This includes 18 league starts out of 24 matches, with his Bundesliga statistics per game as follows:

Interceptions: 0.9

Tackles: 0.8

Possession won [final third]: 0.3

Ball recovery: 3.1

Duels won: 2.6

The 31-year-old’s status as a free agent, along with his experience and skills, makes him appealing to Arsenal, Milan, and other clubs.

Last month, Sport Witness reported claims from Germany indicating that the Gunners and Tottenham Hotspur are competing for Goretzka’s signature.

Arsenal holds an advantage in the transfer battle.

AC Milan is also expressing interest, and Calciomercato has provided updates on their pursuit alongside Mikel Arteta’s team.

From Italy, the Rossoneri, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli are all interested, with Massimiliano Allegri identifying him as a key target for his squad. AC Milan is in touch with the German’s representative but faces competition from Inter and Arsenal.

AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has already reached out to his agent. The player has a favorable view of them, and there was a significant opportunity in January.

However, an agreement has not yet been finalized, as Leon Goretzka’s current preference is to move to the Premier League and join Arsenal.

To clarify, Calciomercato reports: ‘The player’s preference is for the Premier League and Arsenal.’

In addition to the competition, his demands present another challenge for Milan. He is seeking a three-year contract worth €7 million per year, along with a €10 million signing bonus.

Tare is determined to succeed and is striving to outpace Arsenal and Inter in the transfer competition. He plans to negotiate a reduction in both his salary and signing bonus, proposing a contract that exceeds three years.

Currently, the north London club seems to hold the advantage in securing his signature.

Value and agent information of Bayern Munich star

Martín Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Declan Rice, and Mikel Merino are the midfielders under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. If Leon Goretzka opts to join the Emirates, he will need to compete for a position.

Transfermarkt assesses the German’s value at €15m, with a peak valuation of €80m recorded in February 2021.

Agency Roof represents the Bayern Munich player and boasts an extensive client roster, which includes Arsenal’s Kai Havertz.
