Marc Guehi decides his next move after being left furious at Liverpool transfer collapse…

Marc Guehi is contemplating his next steps after feeling enraged by the failed transfer to Liverpool.
Crystal Palace’s captain, Marc Guehi, has been compelled to remain with the team after they abruptly canceled his £35 million transfer to Liverpool on deadline day.
Marc Guehi is intending to exit Crystal Palace as a free agent next summer after his transfer to Liverpool was thwarted.
Guehi had anticipated joining Liverpool on Monday after Palace chairman Steve Parish approved a £35 million bid for the center-back.
However, despite having completed a medical in London and arranging a private jet to take him to Merseyside, the deal collapsed.
Parish reversed his decision at the last moment after Palace manager Oliver Glasner threatened to resign.
Glasner had been clear for weeks that Guehi could not be sold without a replacement and was prepared to resign on principle.
In the end, the Palace manager got his way, but he is now faced with a very upset Guehi, who feels betrayed by the club and is contemplating stepping down from the captaincy.
The 25-year-old defender has been commended for his professionalism throughout the ordeal, as he continued to focus on his football.
He played and scored in the 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, which he thought would be his last match for the club.
However, after joining the England squad for the international break at St George’s Park, he has made a decision regarding his future, as reported by The Times.
Guehi has resolved to reject any proposals for a new contract with Palace, the club he has been with since July 2021.
He intends to prevent them from receiving a transfer fee by leaving as a free agent when his contract concludes on July 1, 2026, instead of moving in the January transfer window.
This is precisely the scenario that Parish had been eager to prevent from the outset. The co-owner and chairman had been transparent about the necessity for Palace to acknowledge their financial situation and approved the £67.5m transfer of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.
He was also aware that Monday marked the final opportunity for the club to secure a reasonable fee for Guehi.
“If Marc wishes to sign a new contract, then he can remain!” Parish stated following the 1-0 victory over Fredrikstad in the Conference League play-offs.
“It’s a challenging situation. Everyone must sell players to adhere to the regulations. That’s a matter we will need to address in the next 11 days.”
Nevertheless, Palace was unable to find a replacement for Guehi, which infuriated Glasner.
The club believed they had reached an agreement for a loan deal with Brighton for Igor Julio, but the Brazilian ultimately opted for West Ham instead.
They had also expressed interest in Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, Monaco’s Mohammed Salisu, Rennes’ Jeremy Jacquet, and Toulouse’s Jaydee Canvot, but without any success.
Palace’s next match is against Sunderland on September 13 at Selhurst Park, a game that is bound to be emotional for Guehi.
The defender is currently with the England squad, who will face Andorra and Serbia in upcoming World Cup qualifiers, but he will soon need to return to Palace.
