Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, is determined to make a double signing from Feyenoord during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Reports suggest that Liverpool are actively pursuing the signings of Geertruida and Wieffer, with Arne Slot on the verge of securing the head coach position at Anfield.

The Dutchman is eager to bring in players who not only enhance Liverpool’s strength but also possess the ability to adapt to his preferred style of play.

Football Insider has exclusively reported that the Feyenoord boss is on the verge of replacing Klopp as the new coach at Liverpool.

In light of this development, it has been mentioned that Liverpool are keen to entice Geertruida and Wieffer away from the Eredivisie giants.

The total market worth of the pair is approximately £59.8m (70 million euros).

Earlier this month, we reported on a story from De Telgraaf which mentioned that the 23-year-old center-back, valued at £25.6m, was open to transferring to Anfield.

Conversely, recent reports from Spain (Fichajes) have indicated that Liverpool is actively pursuing the signing of Wieffer for Slot, with an estimated cost of around £34.2m.

At 24 years old, the defensive midfielder is not only a reliable play disruptor but also contributes to the team’s attacking play.

This season, Wieffer has been directly involved in 10 goals for Feyenoord.

Liverpool is in need of a robust defensive midfielder for the future, especially since their current first-choice DM, Endo, is an aging player who has already passed his peak.

At the rear, Liverpool must consider finding a replacement for Joel Matip, whose contract is set to expire soon, and Geertruida could be a viable option.

In the defensive midfield position, Liverpool needs to reinforce this summer, as Wataru Endo is aging and should transition into a squad player role, while Alexis Mac Allister is more effective as a No.8.

Wieffer, who earns just £7k-a-week with Slot’s current club, could be a fantastic choice for the Reds to play in front of the defense, as he has excelled in Rotterdam since his arrival in 2022. This season, the Dutch international has won an average of 3.2 aerial duels per game and has also scored five goals, demonstrating his ability to contribute in the attacking third. Additionally, joining his current manager at Anfield would help him adapt more easily, as he would already be familiar with the expectations.

The same can be said for Geertruida, who earns a higher wage of £42k-a-week, and has performed exceptionally well for Feyenoord in the 2023/24 season, with 12 goal contributions (seven goals and five assists) in the league from the right-back position, boasting a 91.5% pass completion rate.

If Slot considers Trent Alexander-Arnold as a potential midfielder, it could present an opportunity for the 23-year-old to join the team and challenge Conor Bradley for a spot. This would allow Liverpool’s vice-captain to thrive in a position that many believe suits him perfectly.

While performing in the Netherlands is commendable, the real test lies in whether they can adapt to the fast-paced nature of the Premier League.

It’s worth noting that Klopp has never signed a player for Liverpool whom he had previously managed. So, the question arises: should Slot follow Klopp’s approach or bring Geertruida and Wieffer along with him?
