Liverpool is expected to have Alexander Isak available for the match against Manchester City.

Isak has been sidelined for the last four games due to a groin injury, but the £125 million summer acquisition returned to training on Friday and is eager to play at the Etihad Stadium.

Arne Slot has cautioned that it will take time for Isak to regain his full fitness, and he is likely to begin the match on the bench, with Hugo Ekitike anticipated to lead the attack. Nevertheless, Isak’s return to health is a significant advantage for Liverpool.

“I know I mentioned three weeks ago that his pre-season had concluded, so now we need to assess his current condition. However, I must reiterate those words,” Slot stated on Friday.

Cody Gakpo might replace Florian Wirtz if Slot prefers a more natural wide player to exploit the high defensive line of Manchester City.

Slot mentioned on Friday that he would need to “wait and see” if Andy Robertson is fit enough to continue his streak of three consecutive starts across all competitions.
