Liverpool lineup against Leeds United: Salah replaces Gakpo; Bradley available

Mohamed Salah is set to make his return to the starting lineup for Liverpool as they face Leeds United at Elland Road this Saturday.

Liverpool is keen to get back to winning ways and maintain their recent unbeaten streak when they clash with Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

Arne Slot has received encouraging news regarding the team ahead of this latest match.

Conor Bradley is expected to be fit and ready to face Leeds United after recovering from a muscular injury that sidelined him since the international break.

Currently, Giovanni Leoni (knee) and Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring) are the only players receiving treatment, with Leoni’s season having ended prematurely several weeks ago.

In his pre-match press conference, Slot provided an update on Bradley’s fitness, indicating that the Northern Irish player should be prepared to take on Leeds United this weekend. The Dutch manager also addressed Joe Gomez’s condition after the adaptable English defender recently faced a minor injury.

The Liverpool manager stated, “I anticipate he will train today and be available for the squad tomorrow. Joe Gomez sustained a knock in the West Ham match but was still able to start. He couldn’t complete the full 90 minutes, but I believe he will be able to train again today. Yesterday was a recovery day for most of the players, and today we will train again to assess their condition.”

Additionally, journalists at the press conference pressed Slot about his choice to exclude Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa from recent matches. The Liverpool manager responded, “Every player is considered for starting positions because we have so many talented individuals.

Mo has been an outstanding player for us. He is always in my thoughts for starting or coming off the bench.

“As I mentioned earlier, every player has the opportunity to start. However, we have numerous alternatives for his position, as I have reiterated many times. He has certainly made an impact when coming off the bench on several occasions.

Typically, a striker is brought in to score, but in this instance [during stoppage time against Sunderland], he continued to run at a moment when a player might think, ‘Hmm, I don’t believe I can contribute much more because he’s about to go one-on-one.'”

Alisson Becker is a guaranteed choice in goal, with Liverpool set to play in a 4-3-3 formation against Leeds United on Saturday.

The defense will consist of Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson. Consequently, Conor Bradley will serve as a backup option on the bench.

Regarding the midfield, there is no doubt about the inclusion of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch. Lastly, Mohamed Salah will take the place of Cody Gakpo in the forward line, joining Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak in the attacking trio.

Therefore, Gakpo, Chiesa, and Hugo Ekitike will be available as backup options on the bench.

Forecasted Liverpool Starting XI: Alisson; Gomez, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Ekitike, Wirtz
