Liverpool XI vs Galatasaray: Expected lineup, confirmed team updates, latest injury news for today’s Champions League match.

The Reds face a challenging test on their first Champions League away game.

Liverpool is set to visit Galatasaray for their inaugural away match in the Champions League group stage.

The Reds secured a thrilling 3-2 victory in their opening match against Atletico Madrid, with Virgil van Dijk scoring a last-minute header after they had been equalized by Marcos Llorente’s two goals.

In terms of injuries, the Premier League champions are at full capacity, except for Giovanni Leoni, who has been sidelined for the season due to an ACL injury.

However, Federico Chiesa – who netted Liverpool’s equalizer in their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace over the weekend – has not made the trip to Turkey due to a minor issue.

Aside from Leoni and Chiesa, Arne Slot has a complete squad to choose from, and despite the Super Lig team suffering a 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday one, a visit to RAMS Park in Istanbul is always a tough challenge.

Therefore, the Dutch manager is expected to field a strong side, with Alisson Becker likely to remain in goal ahead of Giorgi Mamardashvili, although Jeremie Frimpong could be reinstated at right-back if Slot seeks more offensive options.

He might also consider Dominik Szoboszlai for that position if he wishes to include Florian Wirtz, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch in the midfield.

There is a case for the seasoned Andy Robertson to replace Milos Kerkez at left-back, but the center-back positions offer less flexibility, with captain van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate expected to partner again, leaving Joe Gomez as the only natural substitute in Leoni’s absence.

In midfield, Wirtz was moved to the left side to make room for Szoboszlai at No10, alongside Mac Allister and Gravenberch, but Cody Gakpo’s introduction during the match may indicate that Slot regretted not starting his fellow countryman.

Naturally, Mohamed Salah will begin on the right flank, although a decision looms over whether Isak or Ekitike will lead the attack.

Expected Liverpool Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Isak.
