Liverpool XI vs Galatasaray: Expected lineup, confirmed team updates, latest injury news for today’s Champions League match.
Reds receive significant fitness boost for their Champions League campaign
Liverpool has Ibrahima Konate fit and ready for selection against Galatasaray following a hamstring problem.
Konate was an unused substitute during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham over the weekend, and Arne Slot confirmed on Tuesday that his absence was due to “discomfort in his hamstring.”
However, the French defender is available as the Reds prepare to host Galatasaray in the Champions League, aiming to overcome a first-leg deficit and advance to the quarter-finals.
Slot mentioned in the pre-match press conference: “Yes, he is currently [ready to play].
“The day after the match is for recovery; when you play so many games with only two days of rest in between, you cannot do much, but he is fully fit now, and he no longer feels any discomfort.
“So, he is ready to start and hopefully play the full 90 minutes or, if necessary, even longer. But we will determine that tomorrow.”
Joe Gomez is uncertain after missing training on Tuesday and will undergo a late fitness assessment, but Alisson Becker will return to goal after missing the first leg in Istanbul.
Slot faces a decision at right-back, with Dominik Szoboszlai likely preferred over Jeremie Frimpong, leaving Florian Wirtz to play as the No10, supported by Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot.
Mohamed Salah is expected to return to the starting XI after being benched against Spurs, and Hugo Ekitike should also start.
It is too early for Alexander Isak to make a comeback after resuming individual training, while Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, and Giovanni Leoni remain long-term absentees.
Predicted Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike
Injured: Isak, Bradley, Leoni, Endo
Doubt: Gomez
