Liverpool is set to secure the signing of a superstar after a lengthy nine-year pursuit. Michael Edwards is poised to complete a transfer that he has been diligently working on during his time at the club.

After nearly a decade of attempts, Liverpool is about to sign a superstar. Michael Edwards is expected to successfully execute a transfer he has been striving for over the past nine years.

Michael Edwards is set to finally secure a remarkable forward for Liverpool, a pursuit he has been dedicated to for nine years.

Liverpool is on the verge of signing a superstar after nearly a decade of interest.

With FSG reinstating the club’s former sporting director in a broader role overseeing multiple football clubs, Edwards is now focused on Liverpool, collaborating closely with Richard Hughes. Their objective this summer is to revamp the squad and make significant changes across various team departments.

The aim for Liverpool is to reshape the team to resemble Arne Slot’s style rather than Jurgen Klopp’s. To achieve this, they are targeting specific player profiles to facilitate the team’s evolution.

A primary focus is to acquire a forward, as Liverpool is in urgent need of a no.9 and is prepared to move on from their current options.

Reports indicate that the trio of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz are all available for transfer.

This could potentially open the door for a deal that Edwards has been pursuing for over nine years.

Michael Edwards may finally sign Alexander Isak, who appears to be the leading candidate for the no.9 position at Liverpool. This interest is not new; Edwards has been keen on Isak since 2016.

At that time, Isak was identified as a promising talent, often compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Edwards aimed to enhance the club’s roster with young talent, and Isak was considered one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe.

He made a significant impact as a 16-year-old in Sweden’s top league with AIK, quickly establishing himself as a prolific scorer.

Isak’s statistics were impressive; as a teenager, he averaged 0.62 goals per 90 minutes and exceeded his expected goals (xG) by 0.19, a trend he continues this season in the Premier League, underscoring his exceptional finishing ability.

Simultaneously, he demonstrated impressive striking abilities at AIK, averaging nearly five dribble attempts per 90 minutes, along with 1.13 progressive runs and 1.23 shot assists, showcasing his capacity to collaborate effectively with teammates.

Given the statistics, it was logical for Liverpool to target him. Even at that time, it was clear he possessed all the necessary attributes. However, Borussia Dortmund ultimately secured Isak’s signature.

Unfortunately, the German club did not provide him with the opportunity to fully develop his talents.

It took Isak several years to return to the level he had shown during his time at AIK, but he has now surpassed that potential, averaging 0.73 goals per 90 minutes for Newcastle this season. It’s no wonder that Edwards’ newly formed data team is eager to acquire him.

Reports indicate that despite the substantial transfer fee, Liverpool is likely to finalize the deal.

talkSPORT has recently revealed that the Reds are prepared to include other players in the negotiation with Newcastle to secure the Swedish forward.

Additionally, The Times has reported that Newcastle has shown interest in Jarell Quansah.

From these reports, it is reasonable to conclude that after nine years, Edwards is finally on track to bring the player he has always desired to Anfield.
