Liverpool is set to ‘dismiss Arne Slot immediately’ under one condition, as the ‘substantial’ cost of his termination has been disclosed.

Reports indicate that Liverpool will ‘dismiss Arne Slot immediately’ if a specific condition is met, while the club is confronted with a ‘substantial’ financial obligation should they choose to let him go.

Slot is currently facing immense pressure at Liverpool following their dismal 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday night.

This marks their ninth defeat in the last 12 matches across all competitions, as Liverpool has plunged into a crisis after securing their 20th Premier League title last season.

This poor run of form has resulted in Liverpool dropping into the lower half of the Premier League standings, while they have also been eliminated from the Carabao Cup and have slipped several places in the Champions League rankings.

Consequently, both Slot and Liverpool are in urgent need of a turnaround this Sunday when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.

In anticipation of this match, Slot is among the frontrunners to be the next Premier League manager to be dismissed, and Dutch pundit and former international Wim Kieft believes his fellow countryman could lose his position if they experience “two or three more disappointing results.”

“Overall, Liverpool’s performances against Nottingham Forest and PSV were shocking.

“There are no signs to stop the downward trend. Even the remarkable Arne Slot cannot reverse this situation overnight. He cannot magically create goals.

“And what seemed unimaginable could very well occur: Slot being let go after two or three additional poor results.”

Following Sunday’s match against West Ham, Liverpool will host Sunderland on Wednesday night, and a report from the Spanish outlet Fichajes suggests that the Reds will ‘dismiss Slot immediately’ if the ‘team endures two more losses’ as the ‘board has indicated’ this will be the case.

The same report asserts that Liverpool will incur a ‘substantial’ cost for terminating Slot’s contract.

The report elaborates.

The possible dismissal of Arne Slot would carry not just sporting but also financial consequences. The manager has a robust contract with the English club, which features a termination clause that requires Liverpool to pay him £10 million if terminated early, roughly equivalent to €11.5 million based on the current exchange rate.

This compensation is among the reasons that have prevented the club from rushing into a decision.

Nevertheless, the team’s performance is at risk of deteriorating if prompt action is not taken, and the board recognizes that allowing this instability to continue could be more expensive than paying the compensation.

Anfield is observing with concern and is awaiting an immediate reaction from a team that has yet to regain its stability.
