Liverpool still leading the race as Teun Teun Koopmeiners’ transfer fee revealed…
Liverpool stays in pole position as Teun Koopmeiners’ asking price is disclosed.
Liverpool continues to be the frontrunner in the race to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, whose impressive performances in Serie A have caught the attention of the Reds.
The asking price for the 26-year-old Dutch international has now been disclosed, standing at a hefty €60 million ($65 million).
Koopmeiners, who is under contract with Atalanta until June 2027, was a key player for his team last season, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 34 Serie A appearances.
His significant contributions played a vital role in Atalanta’s fourth-place finish in Serie A and qualification for the Champions League.
Additionally, Koopmeiners helped Atalanta secure the Europa League title by defeating Bayer Leverkusen.
His performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, with Liverpool showing a strong interest in securing his services, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
However, there may be a hurdle to overcome. Juventus is reportedly eyeing the Dutchman as well, who has expressed a preference to remain in Italy.
Atalanta, on the other hand, would rather sell their star player to a foreign club than to a direct competitor, which could work in Liverpool’s favor.
Recent reports from Italy have indicated that there have been no official offers made for Koopmeiners yet.
In a statement to Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf in March, the player himself provided an update on his future.
The maestro has informed Atalanta of his desire to move next summer. He mentioned that there needs to be a good offer to tempt him away from Italy.
Despite enjoying his time in Italy with his girlfriend, he is open to the idea of playing for clubs in England, even if it means dealing with the rain.
He is looking forward to exploring his options and hopes that Atalanta will receive a fair amount for his transfer, as he has had a great experience with the club.
During a press conference ahead of Atalanta’s Europa League quarter-final second-leg match against Liverpool, head coach Gasperini commented on Koopmeiners’ future.
He emphasized that the player is currently focused on performing well for Atalanta, especially since the team is competing in three different competitions.
Gasperini acknowledged that during this stage of the season, rumors about player transfers are common, especially when other clubs have less involvement in cup competitions.
He believes that these speculations arise due to the success of Atalanta in the cups, leading to questions from other teams about their own performances.
