Liverpool ‘finalize major contract agreement for Alexander Isak’ as transfer discussions with Newcastle commence.

Liverpool is actively working to finalize a significant transfer for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

Reports indicate that Liverpool has arranged a meeting with Newcastle to negotiate the terms of Alexander Isak’s potential transfer, having already reached an agreement on a contract with the Swedish forward.

The 26-year-old expressed his desire to leave St James’ Park earlier this month, requesting a new contract worth £300,000 per week, clearly indicating his wish to join the reigning Premier League champions.

Arne Slot has witnessed nearly £300 million spent on players such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, yet the Reds are not intending to slow their momentum and are diligently working to enhance their attack with Isak. Only Mohamed Salah outscored him in the league last season.

Sky Sports Switzerland reports that official discussions between the two clubs are set to commence in the coming hours, with a formal offer on the way, having already agreed on Isak’s personal terms for a lucrative contract.

A five-year deal is reportedly in place, aligning with his salary expectations.

Liverpool is expected to engage directly with Newcastle to clarify what an acceptable transfer fee would entail. They are anticipated to make an initial offer of £100 million.

However, they recognize that Newcastle’s senior management is insisting on £150 million, which would establish a new British record, to allow their star player to depart.

Liverpool is optimistic about securing a deal for around £120 million, including performance-related bonuses, although the arrangement of these payments will be vital for the success of their negotiations.

A meeting is set to take place within the next 48 hours, with the £65.4 million transfer of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich believed to have paved the way for additional spending on Merseyside.

Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott may also leave, generating further funds to facilitate a move for Isak.

Eddie Howe acknowledged that the Newcastle board faces a decision regarding Isak, who has three years remaining on his current contract, but was excluded from their pre-season tour to Asia due to ongoing speculation about his future.

“The ownership, along with the board of directors… the decision will ultimately lie with the board,” Howe stated. “There’s an entire football club that needs to make this decision.”

The head coach continued: “Naturally, there are matters occurring behind the scenes. He is certainly aware that he is in the news daily, and I can imagine that is challenging for anyone in his position.

Discussions that take place between Alex and the club, or between Alex and myself, will remain confidential for obvious reasons.

“We maintain a strong relationship. He has been outstanding for us since his arrival. He is very well-liked in the dressing room.

“We would love for him to continue his journey at Newcastle. However, whatever transpires must be in the best interest of Newcastle.”

Newcastle have identified RB Leipzig’s rising star Benjamin Sesko as a possible replacement for Isak, while Yoane Wissa and Ollie Watkins are also being considered.
