Liverpool have taken steps to secure Arne Slot’s inaugural signing by finalizing a substantial £51 million agreement.

Liverpool have reportedly made a move to secure their first signing under new head coach Arne Slot, with a £51m deal for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

Despite not yet making any new signings, Liverpool have been linked with several potential additions ahead of Slot’s arrival on June 1.

Olmo, who has been the subject of ongoing speculation, is said to be attracting interest from Liverpool, as well as Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Manchester United.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool have already expressed their interest in signing the Spanish international.

Various players have been rumored to be on Liverpool’s radar for the upcoming transfer window, with Olmo being one of them.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Liverpool, along with Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Manchester United, are all interested in acquiring the Spanish international.

The report even suggests that Liverpool has already begun efforts to secure Olmo’s signature this summer.

Olmo extended his contract with Leipzig until 2027, signing a four-year extension prior to the season.

He joined the Bundesliga club in 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb, having previously been part of Barcelona’s La Masia academy during his youth career.

There have been reports suggesting that Olmo’s contract includes a €60 million (£51 million) release clause at Leipzig.

Speculations indicate that this clause may have a deadline of July 15 this year, potentially prompting interested clubs to take action.

Barcelona has also been rumored to be interested in re-signing Olmo, ten years after he left the club for Dinamo Zagreb.

The midfielder, who scored eight goals and provided five assists for Leipzig this season, is expected to represent Spain at the upcoming European Championships.

It remains uncertain whether Leipzig and Olmo will address his future before or after the summer tournament.

Liverpool is scheduled to kick off their pre-season preparations in July, with matches against Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United in the United States.
