Liverpool line-ups for Wolves as Jeremie Frimpong and Federico Chiesa decisions made. Gakpo in contention; Szoboszlai misses out…
Liverpool’s line-ups for the match against Wolves as decisions on Jeremie Frimpong and Federico Chiesa are finalized.
Predicted Liverpool lineup for the Wolves match: Gakpo available; Szoboszlai sidelined.
On December 27, Liverpool aims to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games as they host a struggling Wolves team at Anfield. With the Reds not participating in Boxing Day matches this year, Arne Slot granted his players a day off on Christmas, but now they are fully focused on the last game of 2025.
This year has seen the Reds secure their second title in five years, equaling Manchester United’s record of 20 titles. However, it will also be marked by the heartbreaking loss of the beloved Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
As Wolves, Jota’s other former Premier League team, come to Anfield for the first time since his passing, an emotional atmosphere is anticipated on Merseyside, with the family of the popular Portuguese player expected to be present.
Cody Gakpo is set to be available for Liverpool as they prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on Saturday. The team is keen to maintain their recent unbeaten streak in the Premier League during this match. Arne Slot faces new roster challenges ahead of this upcoming fixture.
Alexander Isak has become the latest player to be sidelined after suffering a leg injury in the match against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The Swedish international joins Giovanni Leoni (knee), Wataru Endo (ankle), and Joe Gomez (hamstring) in the treatment room.
Furthermore, Dominik Szoboszlai will be unavailable this weekend due to a suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Currently, Mohamed Salah is participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. In contrast, Florian Wirtz is fit, while Conor Bradley (muscular issue) and Cody Gakpo (knock) are undergoing late fitness tests to assess their availability. Additionally, during his pre-match press conference, Slot shared updates on the fitness of Bradley, Wirtz, and Gakpo. The Dutch coach also mentioned the possibility of Jeremie Frimpong starting.
The Liverpool manager stated, “On Friday, we will determine exactly where he [Bradley] stands [and] if he can be included in the squad for the weekend. Cody’s situation is somewhat similar to Conor’s. He [Wirtz] will be available for us again on Saturday.”
“Last weekend, he [Frimpong] played a maximum of 30 minutes since he has been out for a considerable time. I believe he is ready to start this weekend if I choose to make that decision.”
Alisson Becker is a guaranteed starter in goal, with Liverpool set to adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. The defensive line will consist of Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez. Consequently, Bradley and Andrew Robertson will serve as backup options on the bench.
In the midfield, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch will form the double pivot, while Alexis Mac Allister will take on the no. 10 role. Finally, Hugo Ekitike will spearhead the attack for the home team against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo rounding out the offensive lineup. Federico Chiesa will be available as a backup on the bench.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez; Jones, Gravenberch; Gakpo, Mac Allister, Wirtz; Ekitike
