Liverpool is closely monitoring a highly-regarded Brazilian talent, better than Doku, as Edwards seeks to strengthen the team’s attacking prowess…
Liverpool is in the race to sign Corinthians forward Wesley Gassova this summer, facing competition from Atletico Madrid and West Ham United.
Gassova, a 19-year-old talent, has been making a name for himself at his Brazilian club and has shown great potential as a winger.
Liverpool is closely monitoring the progress of Brazilian talent Wesley Gassova, who plays as a forward for Corinthians.
The club is keen on securing his services during the upcoming summer transfer window, despite facing competition from Atletico Madrid and West Ham United. Gassova, who is only 19 years old, has already made a name for himself in his native country, impressing with his performances for Corinthians’ senior team.
Despite his young age, he made his professional debut at just 17 years old and has continued to show promising development since then. Standing at 1.80 meters tall, Gassova possesses a strong physical presence and possesses remarkable speed and agility, making him an ideal candidate to play as a winger.
While he primarily operates on the left wing, he is also capable of playing as a second striker or on the right wing, utilizing his dominant right foot.
Liverpool’s sporting director, Michael Edwards, has identified Gassova as a potential target and is eager to secure his signature for the club.
Liverpool’s interest in the young player highlights their focus on securing promising talents for the future.
Wesley possesses exceptional dribbling skills and speed, making him a formidable opponent in one-on-one battles. His playing style on the wings has drawn comparisons to Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku, showcasing his potential.
However, in order to fully realize his immense talent, Wesley must work on improving his end product, particularly in terms of passing and goal-scoring threat. Despite being just 19 years old, he has already made 23 appearances for Corinthians across various competitions, contributing with four goals and two assists this season.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool is now in competition with Atletico and West Ham to secure Wesley’s signature in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, Corinthians have set a hefty price tag of £26 million for the young player, considering the adjustment period he would require to adapt to European football.
Although Liverpool currently boasts a strong attacking department, the situation may change with the departure of their current manager, Jurgen Klopp. The club has already appointed Arne Slot as Klopp’s successor, who will assume control during the summer.
At present, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo are the available choices for the left-wing position alongside Darwin Nunez in the Reds’ squad.
Liverpool has identified other positions that require more attention during the summer transfer window, making the possibility of a deal for Wesley highly improbable.
