Liverpool reportedly ‘have an agreement’ for their first signing in 2026, with ‘all details finalized’ as Romano discloses their ‘intention’.

As per reports, Liverpool has already ‘secured an agreement’ for their initial signing in 2026, while Fabrizio Romano has shared insights on their “intention”.

Liverpool enjoyed a remarkable summer transfer window, successfully acquiring most of their primary targets and investing approximately £415m in a significant squad transformation.

The club’s most prominent signings included Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, while they generated funds by selling Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Jarell Quansah.

However, Arne Slot’s team faced a setback on deadline day, missing out on Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi at the last moment.

Liverpool had pursued Guehi throughout the summer window and reached a £35m agreement with Palace on deadline day, but the deal collapsed due to the London club’s inability to secure a suitable replacement.

Nevertheless, the possibility remains for Guehi to join Liverpool next year, as he is in the final year of his existing contract.

Romano has stated that Liverpool’s “intention is to pursue Guehi as a free agent”.

“Marc Guehi will not extend his contract with Crystal Palace. While the season may evolve, as of now, Liverpool’s intention is to target Guehi as a free agent rather than pursuing him in the January transfer window,” Romano mentioned on his YouTube channel.

Should circumstances change in the coming months, Liverpool may reconsider their stance.

“Liverpool is dissatisfied with the events of Deadline Day. They will face competition from clubs in Spain, Italy, Germany, and England.

Certainly, numerous clubs will be eager to enter the fray and offer him a higher salary or signing bonus than Liverpool.

“Liverpool will remain in the picture, but the plan is to aim for Guehi in 2026 as a free agent.

A report from Football Insider suggests that Liverpool has reached an agreement to acquire Guehi in 2026. Former Premier League chief scout Mick Brown, who is still very well-connected in the industry, stated that “all the details are essentially finalized.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool has already secured an agreement,” Brown remarked to Football Insider.

“I’ve witnessed similar situations before where a deal collapses, yet everything was already settled on the players’ end, allowing them to revisit the agreement without complications.

“When negotiations reach such an advanced stage, all the particulars are nearly complete. It appeared to be a confirmed deal.

“They are aware of the player’s demands, and they know he is eager to join; it’s merely a matter of progressing with the club to sign him when he becomes available.

“Whether this occurs in January or at the season’s conclusion is ultimately their decision.

“Liverpool will argue that with only a year remaining on his contract, they can save £35 million and acquire him for free.

“Even with interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona, as has been reported, Liverpool is confident that he prefers to join them.

Therefore, from their perspective, it’s simply a matter of making another move when he is available.
