Liverpool receives an early advantage as United duo misses training

Liverpool may encounter a weakened Manchester United team this weekend, as reports indicate that two of Ruben Amorim’s crucial players have not participated in training prior to their visit to Anfield.

As per EPL Index, Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez were both missing from United’s recent training session at Carrington, casting serious doubt on their availability.

Mazraoui has been out of action since United’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea last month and was initially anticipated to return following the international break.

However, Sky Sports has confirmed that the Moroccan full-back did not take part in group training, while Martinez is still recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained in February.

United’s injury issues escalate as Liverpool prepares to respond

This is yet another challenge for Amorim, who might have to rely on academy players to fill the voids.

The training session reportedly included several youth players, highlighting the increasing pressure on their squad before facing the reigning Premier League champions.

Bruno Fernandes was also absent, but his absence was due to rest rather than an injury.

The Portugal midfielder played in his country’s 2-2 draw against Hungary, where Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai scored a last-minute equaliser – a further testament to the impact our No.8 continues to have on the international scene.

While United scrambles to find solutions, Arne Slot’s team has its own fitness evaluations to conduct.

Alisson Becker remains out following the issue he sustained at Galatasaray, while Ibou Konate’s condition is being closely monitored after he withdrew from France duty due to a quad issue.

There are also concerns regarding Ryan Gravenberch, with James Pearce reporting that the Dutch midfielder will be evaluated for hamstring discomfort after being substituted at half-time during the Netherlands’ match last weekend.

Liverpool is still managing their own fitness assessments.

Despite those challenges, Liverpool is anticipated to possess sufficient quality and depth to manage, with players such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak aiming to make a mark and reveal hints of what lies ahead.

As United is without crucial defensive players, Slot’s team will see this as a significant chance to gain momentum prior to a tough series of matches.
