‘Liverpool are lacking’ – Gary Neville forecasts the outcome of Liverpool versus Crystal Palace, while Roy Keane has a differing opinion.

Liverpool is set to travel to London to take on Crystal Palace, with a closely contested match anticipated.

Typically, this wouldn’t be a fixture that Liverpool supporters would consider one of the toughest of the season, yet in recent years, Crystal Palace has proven to be somewhat of a troublesome opponent.

With only two victories in the last seven encounters between the two teams, both achieved by a narrow margin, it seems likely that this match will once again be a closely fought battle between the two sides that previously faced off in an exciting Community Shield at Wembley to kick off the season.

The last occasion Liverpool triumphed over the Eagles by more than a single goal was in 2022, illustrating the challenge that awaits Arne Slot at Selhurst Park.

Will Liverpool falter against Crystal Palace?

The previous visit to London to confront Palace on their home ground may evoke past memories, with Diogo Jota netting the decisive goal just nine minutes into the match.

The Reds’ manager could certainly use his services now, especially after losing Hugo Ekitike to suspension and with Alexander Isak just beginning to regain his fitness.

Federico Chiesa, who performed exceptionally well against Southampton in the Carabao Cup, may be given the chance to lead the attack.

Despite only recently returning to play, Isak is predicted by one of the Stick to Football analysts to be the key player for Liverpool, a view that Gary Neville, predictably, contests.

Euro 2022 champion Jill Scott remarked: “Liverpool will secure a victory, marking a pivotal moment for Alexander Isak.”

Gary Neville asserted: “Liverpool are missing Hugo Ekitike due to his shirt removal, so I’m predicting a draw, specifically 1-1.”

Neville and Jamie Carragher’s team opted for a 1-1 draw, while Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane supported a Liverpool win with a score of 2-1.

Regardless, the likelihood of the two unbeaten teams in the Premier League ending in a 3-3 draw appears quite low.

Does Crystal Palace hold the advantage?

Does Crystal Palace hold the advantage?

Currently, Palace is positioned fifth in the Premier League, with Oliver Glasner establishing himself as one of the top tactical minds in the league.

Typically, the Austrian favors a 3-4-3 formation that is adaptable, allowing for either a more offensive or defensive approach.

Despite the departures of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Wilfried Zaha in recent years, they have managed to enhance their performance and consistently secure a spot in the upper half of the table.

A potential deciding factor could be that Liverpool played mid-week, while Palace has had a full week to prepare.

Slot rested many of his key players; however, the training week was likely focused on the Carabao Cup match against Southampton, leaving only a few days to prepare for a team that will soon face European competition as well.

It reflects the progress made since Glasner’s appointment that no one is predicting…
