Liverpool dashes Arsenal’s hopes of landing Alexander Isak as Reds offer Newcastle £100m…

Liverpool have dealt a blow to Arsenal’s pursuit of Alexander Isak by expressing interest in one of his Newcastle teammates.

The Reds are said to be considering a £100m move for the player. Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for a record fee of £63m, has been a remarkable addition to the team, scoring 29 goals in 48 Premier League appearances.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak may hinder Arsenal’s chances of signing the player this summer, as the Reds are said to be considering a £100m move for one of Isak’s Newcastle teammates.

Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a club-record fee of approximately £63m and has since made a significant impact, scoring 29 goals in 48 Premier League appearances for the Magpies.

While Newcastle’s new owners, backed by Saudi-backed PIF, have the financial resources, they are currently facing financial fair play constraints. As a result, it has been widely reported that they will need to offload at least one of their prized assets this summer, with Isak and Bruno Guimaraes both attracting interest.

The Independent reported last week that Isak is the primary target for Arsenal’s striking position this summer, with Mikel Arteta determined to secure the forward who will strengthen his squad.

Newcastle is reportedly reluctant to let Isak go, and whether he pushes for a move could be crucial.

Liverpool could disrupt the deal by offering Newcastle a substantial amount to acquire Anthony Gordon, according to The Daily Star.

Gordon has impressed this season under Eddie Howe’s management, earning the title of Newcastle’s Player of the Season. Liverpool scouts have taken notice of his performances as they plan for the future post-Jurgen Klopp with new manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool may need to spend around £100m to secure the services of the 23-year-old player, who was acquired from Everton for £45m in January last year.

While there are rumors suggesting that Arsenal might be willing to pay a similar amount for Isak, Newcastle might be more inclined to part ways with Gordon, as his sale could potentially bring in more profit.

It remains uncertain whether Gordon himself would consider an offer from Liverpool, as he appears to be enjoying his time at St James’ Park.

However, the report highlights that Gordon is a devoted Liverpool fan and had previously been a part of their youth setup before joining Everton at the age of 11.
