Liverpool is ‘confident’ about a £205.5m dual striker agreement as they engage in ‘advanced discussions’ for their sixth acquisition.

Reports indicate that Liverpool is in ‘advanced discussions’ regarding their next summer acquisition as they intensify their pursuit of a new striker.

The Reds have already made a significant impact this summer, investing approximately £200m on five players, including Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Freddie Woodman, and Armin Pecsi.

Nevertheless, Liverpool’s summer activity is not yet complete, as recent reports suggest they are still looking for a striker, winger, and centre-back.

Currently, their priority is to find a replacement for Darwin Nunez, who has been linked with a transfer to the Saudi Pro League, with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Eintracht Frankfurt’s player being their top targets.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has disclosed Liverpool’s strategy for each player after “presenting their proposal” to Newcastle regarding Isak.

“Now they’ve presented their proposal to Newcastle. Liverpool has informed Newcastle that they are prepared to offer £120m [€138m] for Isak. This would be a record fee,” Romano stated.

“I’ve been informed that the player has not ruled out a move to Liverpool. He is still negotiating with Newcastle over a new contract, but he hasn’t dismissed Liverpool. The decision lies with Newcastle. The offer is ready, and it all hinges on Newcastle’s response to Liverpool in the coming hours or days – it shouldn’t take too long.”

“For Liverpool, it’s Isak if Newcastle opens the door. If not, they will turn to Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt – who is also a target for Newcastle. They had an €80m bid turned down on Monday.

“Liverpool is monitoring both situations. Let’s see how this unfolds.”

As noted, Newcastle is eager to secure Isak and Ekitike for the upcoming season, with a report on Tuesday afternoon stating they are in ‘advanced’ discussions for the Frankfurt standout.

However, Newcastle has not yet secured Ekitike, as The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed around a similar time.

Ornstein disclosed:

‘The Athletic reported on July 14 that Newcastle attempted to acquire Ekitike with an offer of approximately €75million (£64.9m; $86.9m), which was rejected by Frankfurt.

‘They have now also received an inquiry from Liverpool, as the Premier League champions aim to strengthen their attack with a new striker.’

While it has been widely reported that Liverpool is considering either Isak or Ekitike, an ‘exciting’ update from the German publication Bild suggests that the Reds are ‘confident’ they could secure both this summer. This potential dual acquisition could amount to £205.5m, with estimates indicating that Isak and Ekitike could cost £120m and £86.5m respectively.

The report states:

‘According to BILD, Liverpool is currently operating under the assumption that they can persuade both Ekitiké and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak to join the Reds.’

Liverpool is also planning for the future, with “advanced” discussions taking place regarding a deal for teenage Salford City striker Will Wright, who is set to be their next signing.

“Liverpool is making efforts to sign Salford City striker Will Wright for a six-figure fee,” Jacobs tweeted.

“Multiple Premier League clubs are interested, but LFC is currently in advanced negotiations.”
