Liverpool XI vs Nottingham Forest: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury updates for Premier League

The Reds have faced a significant injury setback ahead of their Premier League comeback.

Liverpool team news: Projected XI against Forest without Bradley, Wirtz, and Ekitike.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has three potential candidates to consider for the right-back position against Nottingham Forest.

The current Premier League champions are set to host Forest at Anfield on Saturday, aiming to recover from their loss to Manchester City prior to the international break.

Nevertheless, Slot will need to implement at least two alterations to the lineup that played at the Etihad Stadium.

One of these changes will be at right-back, as Conor Bradley has sustained a muscle injury while representing Northern Ireland and is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks.

In terms of finding a replacement for Bradley, Slot has indicated that Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Joe Gomez are all viable options.

“He [Szoboszlai] is excelling in every role. That’s a fact. He has performed admirably as both a full-back and a midfielder,” Slot mentioned during Friday’s pre-match press briefing.

“Curtis Jones filled that role last season. Joe Gomez is also capable of playing there, but he has only completed, if I’m not mistaken, two full matches throughout the entire 2025 year.

Therefore, if we want to ensure his availability for a longer period, it might be somewhat risky to have him play seven times in 22 days.

“He also missed a training session yesterday, but we anticipate he will participate in training today.

[It’s] challenging, but the positive aspect is that we still have plenty of capable players available, and perhaps one or two of them will need to step into roles they are not typically accustomed to. That’s something we must accept.

It is likely that Slot will choose Jones to play at full-back, as Liverpool is anticipated to control possession against Forest.

This choice would enable Szoboszlai to maintain his preferred No10 position and could reduce the chance of the Hungarian receiving a yellow card that would prevent him from participating in the West Ham match.

Another necessary adjustment will see Florian Wirtz exit the starting lineup due to injury, with Cody Gakpo likely stepping in on the left side of the attack.

In other news, Alisson Becker is back in the mix after being sidelined for the last seven matches due to a hamstring injury. The Brazilian has been training during the international break and is expected to reclaim his spot from Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Alexander Isak is vying to take over from Hugo Ekitike in the forward position, and Andy Robertson is expected to be fit to start, despite having missed training on Thursday.

Predicted Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Isak

Injured: Wirtz, Bradley, Frimpong, Leoni

Time and date: 3pm GMT on Saturday, November 22, 2025
