Liverpool is currently making every effort to secure a £35m player, according to a journalist.

Although the transfer window is not yet open, Liverpool aims to enter the competition early.

The Reds had an impressive transfer window, acquiring several high-quality players, with hopes that these additions will enhance their chances of defending their title.

However, things have not unfolded as planned, as most of the new signings have yet to make an impact, and Liverpool has suffered three consecutive losses.

There are numerous issues within the team, some of which appear unresolvable unless they engage in the transfer market.

While they cannot act for a few months, they can certainly begin preparations to facilitate matters come January, and it seems they are already taking steps to secure one of their targets.

Liverpool is diligently working on a deal for Marc Guehi.

One of the major challenges for Liverpool thus far has been their defense, which has been vulnerable, inconsistent, and has conceded too many goals.

Arne Slot anticipated this issue at the start of the season and sought to bring in new players, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi being the most notable target.

Unfortunately, the deal fell through at the last moment, leaving the Reds with limited options, although the intention was always to revisit the opportunity next summer.

Despite facing significant competition, they are fully committed to acquiring his signature, and journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Liverpool is ‘doing everything’ possible to bring Guehi on board.

He mentions that discussions are ongoing and that they are making a strong push, although Barcelona is also in the mix.

Bayern Munich has shown interest in Guehi as well and has already had conversations with his representatives, while the player is reportedly waiting to see if Real Madrid enters the fray.

Numerous other clubs are anticipated to attempt to lure him away as well, indicating that this contest could extend over time, although Liverpool remains optimistic that he will adhere to the agreement made this summer.

Liverpool faces a challenging task in securing Marc Guehi’s signature.

The Reds may have had a preliminary agreement and the deal nearly finalized, but it now appears further from completion than ever before.

It is improbable that Liverpool will be able to compete financially with teams like Real Madrid and Bayern, as Guehi is aware that he can command significantly higher wages by leaving on a free transfer.

With Palace performing well in Europe and considering it is a World Cup year, it is also unlikely that he will depart in January, which means the Reds will need to enhance their wage proposal.

The fact that Guehi is ‘waiting’ for Madrid will undoubtedly raise concerns among many fans, suggesting that Liverpool may need to explore other options for a centre-back when the time arrives.
