Liverpool: Alexander Isak deal to be done ‘sooner than later’ as ‘nagging suspicion’ revealed…
Liverpool: The deal for Alexander Isak is expected to be finalized ‘sooner rather than later’ as a ‘nagging suspicion’ comes to light.
Liverpool is anticipated to secure Alexander Isak’s signature ‘sooner rather than later’, while Newcastle United has made two significant ‘transfer decisions’.
Isak is determined to transition from Newcastle to Liverpool, and a resolution to this ongoing situation is likely to occur after Monday’s match between the two teams.
Liverpool remains eager to acquire Isak, and it has been indicated that they will present a better offer if and when Newcastle finds a replacement, following the rejection of a bid around £110m plus add-ons earlier this summer.
On the other hand, Newcastle is steadfast in their stance that Isak will remain unless their asking price is met, with reports indicating they are seeking as much as £150m for their valuable player.
This situation has understandably frustrated Isak, who has expressed his discontent and has been training alone in an effort to facilitate a move away from Newcastle during this transfer window.
It is uncertain whether Isak will achieve his desired transfer, as a definitive update on his status is not expected until at least Tuesday. However, Ian Doyle from the Liverpool Echo has shared his perspective on the ongoing situation.
Doyle believes that Isak will join Liverpool ‘sooner rather than later’ due to a ‘nagging suspicion’ regarding their interest in acquiring a new forward.
‘Every club has a contingency plan. However, there is a nagging suspicion that Liverpool is focused on signing Alexander Isak and will not settle for any alternative,’ Doyle stated to the Liverpool Echo.
‘Whether this is a prudent decision will become clearer in the next nine days. Interestingly, there may be similarities to the Virgil van Dijk scenario if Isak does not arrive this summer.
‘After the anticipated transfer for Van Dijk before the 2017/18 season was blocked by Southampton, there were persistent demands for Liverpool to recruit another centre-back. The club held firm, and indeed the Dutch international was in place less than six months later.
Isak appears likely to arrive at Anfield sooner rather than later, and there have definitely been indications that Newcastle’s determination is diminishing in recent days. Could a £130 million deal resolve the situation? It wouldn’t be surprising.
Doyle remarked: “Liverpool clearly still lack depth in their attack, but the current options are not particularly enticing.
The speculation surrounding Rodrygo from Real Madrid seems to be driven by his agent, and the financial terms being discussed wouldn’t align well with the Reds’ interests.
“Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid is another possibility, but it has been suggested that he left Manchester City due to difficulties settling in England, particularly in the North West.
“If Isak does not transfer to Liverpool before the September 1 deadline, it’s possible that the Reds will make another attempt in the New Year and continue with their existing attacking lineup for the first half of the season. Don’t be surprised if there is no alternative plan.
Isak’s situation compounds a challenging transfer window for Newcastle, who have missed out on players like James Trafford, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap.
Thus, it is not unexpected that Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke reports that their ‘transfer decision’ regarding Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes is that they ‘won’t entertain any offers’ for either player.
O’Rourke stated: “I don’t believe it will impact any other transfers.
“Bruno Guimaraes – judging by that social media post – appears fully dedicated to Newcastle, and I don’t think the club would even contemplate allowing Anthony Gordon to leave either.
“It seems the player is content at Newcastle as well, stepping up in the absence of Alexander Isak.
