Leeds United have initiated discussions with Callum Wilson – the striker is expected to make a decision about his future soon.

Daniel Farke appears determined to enhance the Leeds United offense compared to last season. The Whites scored 95 goals in the Championship last year.

Joel Piroe, Manor Solomon, and Dan James were standout performers as Farke led one of the league’s most effective attacking teams. He achieved this despite losing several key players during the summer.

Even with a strong attacking lineup, Leeds often relied on just one striker throughout the previous season – Joel Piroe.

The Dutch forward was the clear first choice for the majority of the campaign. This was largely because he faced little competition for the position – Patrick Bamford was sidelined for most of the year, and Daniel Farke never fully placed his trust in Mateo Joseph.

This situation is one of the reasons the young player will discuss his future role with the club for the upcoming season.

Leeds continues its pursuit of a new center forward, aiming to recruit another striker alongside Lukas Nmecha.

This move would significantly transform a team that had only one available option for the majority of last season.

Callum Wilson has been a name of interest since the conclusion of last season; the striker is now a free agent and is free to join any club.

Graeme Bailey disclosed to TBR Football that Leeds has reached out to Wilson:

“Leeds aren’t in a rush; they’re allowing the market to unfold.

“They are among the teams that have engaged in discussions with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and they’ve also spoken to Callum Wilson at various times this summer.”

Josh Sargent is a viable option.

Norwich City striker Josh Sargent is a genuine target for Leeds United this summer.

It appears that Daniel Farke is eager to sign one of his former players during this transfer window.

Reports suggest that the American is looking to leave Norwich for a higher level of competition, but his asking price poses a challenge. The Canaries are demanding £20 million from clubs this summer.

Is Wilson still capable of competing at the highest level?

If the striker can maintain his fitness, there is a strong possibility he will participate in the Premier League next season.

However, the real question is whether he aligns with the tactical framework at Leeds United.

When comparing last season’s statistics, it becomes evident how closely matched the attacking metrics of Leeds and Newcastle are.

Both teams share a similar approach – focusing on transitions, utilizing wide spaces, and delivering crosses into the box. Wilson could potentially complement Leeds United’s strategy for the upcoming season.
