Stach, Rodon, Okafor – Updates on Leeds United injuries and expected return dates against Manchester United.

Leeds United achieved a hard-earned victory over West Ham in the FA Cup on Sunday night, progressing to the semi-finals, but they faced several injury issues along the way.

The team will resume Premier League play in a week, traveling to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

However, they might have to do so without several key players. The Whites managed to reach the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday after a challenging 120-minute match against West Ham United.

Ao Tanaka opened the scoring for the visitors just 26 minutes into the match, followed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin converting a penalty about 15 minutes before the end. A remarkable 11 minutes of injury time ultimately proved too taxing for Daniel Farke’s squad, however.

Mateus Fernandes reduced the deficit at the London Stadium three minutes into extra time, only for Axel Disasi to equalize for the hosts shortly thereafter. Already exhausted from a gripping match, neither team could find a winner during the additional 30 minutes added to the game.

Consequently, a penalty shootout was required to decide the match winner, with Lucas Perri’s outstanding performance securing victory for the Peacocks – the goalkeeper making two crucial saves to thwart West Ham.

They will now face Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition on the weekend of April 25, while Manchester City will take on Southampton, with a return to Premier League action on the horizon in the meantime.

Next up for Leeds is a visit to Greater Manchester to confront their fierce rivals, the Red Devils, but Farke may be without several first-team players who sustained various injuries during Sunday’s match.

Here, we outline all of the squad’s current injuries and when fans might expect to see certain players back in action…

Noah Okafor

Noah Okafor seemed to be in pain when he was substituted for Wilfried Gnonto 70 minutes into the match on Sunday. However, Farke has since clarified that the forward was only experiencing cramp afterwards.

Potential return date: Monday, April 13 vs Man United.

Joe Rodon

Joe Rodon raised concerns when he had to leave the field just eight minutes after the players returned from half-time, apparently struggling with his ankle. Farke addressed the situation regarding the defender during his post-match press conference.

He stated: “Rodon rolled his ankle, hope it’s not too bad – we’ve got enough time for next game.”

Potential return date: Monday, April 13 vs Man United.

Anton Stach

Stach was taken off the pitch even earlier than Rodon, substituted for Brenden Aaronson just 39 minutes into the game after a collision with Max Kilman in the West Ham penalty area. Kilman appeared to foul Stach with a sliding tackle, but neither Craig Pawson nor VAR awarded a penalty.

Farke has since confirmed that the Leeds player has sustained ligament damage. He remarked: “Anton should have been awarded a penalty. Ligament injury. We will have to see. He is a key player for us.”

Potential return date: Unknown.

Dan James

Although Dan James played for his home country of Wales during the international break in their World Cup qualifiers, he was regrettably absent from Sunday’s match against West Ham due to an adductor strain. This injury is anticipated to keep him out for a few weeks.

Potential return date: Late April/Early May.

Gabriel Gudmundsson

Like James, Gabriel Gudmundsson also played for Sweden during the recent international break but reported a minor groin issue before their match in the capital. Consequently, he was excluded from Farke’s traveling squad.

Potential return date: Monday, April 13 vs Man United.
