Jurrien Timber is set to return to action for Arsenal after the international break in what is a huge boost for Mikel Arteta against Manchester City…
Jurrien Timber’s return to action for Arsenal after the international break is a significant positive for Mikel Arteta.
The talented Dutchman showcased his skills during his debut for Arsenal, but unfortunately, he sustained an ACL injury during the match against Nottingham Forest on the season’s opening day.
Since then, the 22-year-old has been absent from the team, but Mikel Arteta recently disclosed that he resumed training last month.
Journalist Kaya Kaynak provided an update on Timber’s fitness during his appearance on X this Tuesday morning.
According to his statement, Jurrien Timber is expected to make a comeback for AFC after the international break, unless any unforeseen setbacks occur.
The race for the Premier League title is intensifying, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool vying for the top spot.
At present, Arsenal holds the top position on goal difference, closely followed by Liverpool, while Manchester City trails by just one point. This three-way competition is shaping up to be one of the most closely contested battles at this stage of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s team is set to visit Man City at the Etihad Stadium following the International break, in a match that may play a significant role in determining the destination of the title at the end of the season.
Arsenal was at the forefront for the majority of the previous season before experiencing a late decline. Despite trailing behind their rivals in recent months, a draw between Liverpool and Man City has allowed them to seize the opportunity, which could be pivotal.
Ben Jacobs highlights the significance of Arsenal seizing the initiative in the title race. In an interview with Caught Offside, journalist Ben Jacobs emphasized that if Arsenal aims to clinch the league title, they must not lose their momentum in the standings and must strive to maintain their position at the summit for as long as possible.
In order for Arsenal to win the Premier League, it is crucial that they lead from the front,” he declared.
“If we reach a point between game twenty-eight, which is the current game, and game thirty-two, where Manchester City is at the top with a clear lead, then I believe there will be no turning back. Therefore, it is essential for Arsenal and Liverpool to be the frontrunners.
“If Manchester City manages to take the lead, which could happen in the upcoming fixtures, I would be very surprised if they let it slip away at this stage of the season.”
The upcoming match at the Etihad Stadium holds significant importance due to the current standings of both teams in the league.
Manchester City has secured the last three championship titles and excels in both coming from behind to win matches and maintaining their lead.
Arsenal must widen the gap between themselves and City as much as possible, and a victory in Manchester is crucial for that purpose. A draw would leave both teams in a similar position, but City’s experience could give them the edge, while a loss would see Arsenal trailing behind.
If Pep Guardiola’s team manages to claim the top spot, it will be a tough challenge to displace them, putting additional pressure on Arsenal in the upcoming fixture as the visitors.
