Jürgen Klopp’s suggestion has led Liverpool to consider the exit of Arsenal’s midfielder…
Liverpool is considering the departure of Arsenal’s midfielder based on advice from Jürgen Klopp. Klopp praised the player last summer and he is now set to be available during the upcoming transfer window.
Liverpool’s recruitment team has undergone changes, with Michael Edwards returning as CEO of Football under FSG. Julian Ward will also return as technical director, while David Woodfine will serve as assistant sporting director under new recruit Richard Hughes.
These changes will impact transfer policy, with input from incoming manager Arne Slot. Despite Klopp’s reduced influence on hiring decisions after almost nine years, Liverpool may revisit his positive comments about the Arsenal midfielder now that he is potentially on the market.
Liverpool is considering the departure of Arsenal’s midfielder based on the advice of Jürgen Klopp. Klopp praised the midfielder and Liverpool had considered making an offer for him last summer. The player will be available during the upcoming transfer window.
Liverpool’s hiring department has undergone changes, with Michael Edwards being reappointed as CEO of Football by FSG. He has already started filling various related roles.
Julian Ward, another returning member, will take on the position of technical director. David Woodfine, who will report to new recruit Richard Hughes, will serve as assistant sporting director.
These appointments complete the lineup of former employees who have been convinced to come back.
As a result, the transfer policy will be influenced by multiple factors, including suggestions from the incoming manager Arne Slot.
Although Jürgen Klopp’s influence over hiring decisions has diminished after almost nine years in charge, Liverpool may revisit the compliments he gave to an Arsenal player this season, especially now that the player is expected to be available in the market.
During the campaign, Albert Sambi Lokonga was temporarily loaned to Luton Town, which came as a surprise to Klopp when he learned that Arsenal had made this decision.
In February, prior to Liverpool’s match against Luton, Klopp expressed his astonishment, stating, “When you watch Lokonga play and you realize he’s an Arsenal player who has been loaned out, it’s quite interesting.” Despite this, Liverpool managed to overcome a deficit and secure a 4-1 victory in that game.
Moreover, Liverpool is reportedly considering the departure of Sambi Lokonga based on Jürgen Klopp’s advice. The Daily Express suggests that the Reds were even offered the midfielder last summer before he joined Luton, and they gave serious thought to the potential deal.
Arsenal has agreed to let Lokonga go permanently this summer, allowing Liverpool and Edwards to take a fresh look at the 24-year-old player.
Discussions have taken place between Lokonga and the club, and according to the Standard, all parties involved have agreed that it is in his best interest to move on permanently.
Luton is determined to retain Sambi Lokonga, who was acquired by Arsenal from Anderlecht for $19 million (£15 million/€18 million). Despite facing challenges after relegation from the Premier League, the player is anticipated to attract interest from top-tier clubs.
Liverpool.com describes Sambi Lokonga as a dependable yet unremarkable player, suggesting that Liverpool could consider pursuing him if the price is suitable.
Nevertheless, Arsenal is unlikely to part ways with the Belgian midfielder easily after a decent season in the Premier League.
Is Sambi Lokonga’s potential role similar to that of a younger Wataru Endō? It’s a possibility, but with the Japanese captain likely to maintain his supporting role for another season, Liverpool may not prioritize signing Lokonga this summer.
While Sambi Lokonga could be a valuable addition for a team, it seems improbable that Liverpool will be the destination. However, considering the player’s previous association with the club, completely ruling out the possibility may not be wise.
