Imagine him & Saka: Arteta could form a “dangerous” duo in Arsenal swoop for £66m ace…

Arteta could create a formidable partnership at Arsenal if they secure the £66m signing of Xavi Simons.

Ben Jacobs suggests that Arsenal will need to pay a substantial fee to bring the on-loan PSG star to the Emirates.

PSG exercised their £3 million buyback option for Simons last summer after an impressive season at PSV, only to loan him out to RB Leipzig.

Despite Leipzig’s interest in keeping him, the loan deal does not include a purchase option. With 9 goals and 15 assists in 41 games for Leipzig, Simons has caught the eye of several clubs, including Arsenal, who are reportedly interested in signing the Dutch midfielder.

Reports suggest that Arsenal, along with other clubs, are interested in signing Dutch international Simons this summer, which has generated a lot of attention. However, transfer insider Ben Jacobs has provided an update on Simons’ future, stating that it remains uncertain whether PSG will decide to sell or retain him during this transfer window.

Leipzig is eager to bring Simons back on loan, and Jacobs believes that they have a strong chance of doing so. According to the journalist, it would take an extraordinary offer from another club to convince PSG to part ways with the player.

Jacobs posted on Twitter that PSG is currently deliberating whether to recall Xavi Simons this summer or extend his loan with Leipzig.

The latter option seems more probable, although there are some short-term complexities that the club needs to address before finalizing their plans.

The likelihood of Simons being sold to another club is considered low, unless an exceptional offer is made. Transfermarkt has valued the playmaker at £68 million, but it remains uncertain how much PSG would demand for his sale this summer.

It will be intriguing to observe if Arsenal will formalize their interest in Simons by submitting a formal offer.

There is no doubt about his quality, and he could potentially be the ideal addition to Arsenal’s midfield alongside Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

It is still uncertain what PSG will decide to do with him – retain, offload, or loan him to Leipzig for another year.
