‘I have heard…’ – An insider reveals Arne Slot’s new contract situation following Liverpool’s four consecutive losses.

Arne Slot has nearly two years left on his contract with Liverpool, and despite the team’s current poor performance, it would likely require a significant downturn for him not to fulfill the remainder of his agreement.

Recently, the Daily Express reported (via Sky Sports) that the 47-year-old’s agent is already in discussions with the Anfield management about extending the Dutchman’s tenure at the club beyond June 2027.

Certain vocal segments of social media have called for the Premier League-winning manager’s dismissal if results do not improve soon, but it appears that FSG has no plans to terminate the current head coach.

What is Liverpool’s position regarding a new contract for Arne Slot?

Transfer insider Dean Jones has suggested that Liverpool is determined to initiate discussions with Slot about a new contract in the upcoming months, with the Reds’ streak of four consecutive defeats not affecting the club’s position at all.

The journalist shared with TEAMtalk: “I have heard that early, initial contact was already made in terms of opening more formal conversations about extending his contract and how that could work, so it is a gradual process that has been expected to become more active across the course of this season.

“It’s not something they have to decide today or tomorrow because his current deal runs to the summer of 2027, but ideally they would be in a position to do so by the end of the season.

“Liverpool views this as a long-term project similar to the careers of Jurgen Klopp or Rafa Benitez, but of course, results will also influence the duration of his tenure.

Perhaps he will find himself somewhere in between, like Brendan Rodgers – only time will reveal the outcome.

At this moment, there is no immediate reaction to the four-game losing streak regarding their outlook for the future. They intend to support him and are optimistic that the situation will improve, leading to satisfaction with the progress made and ensuring a more stable future.

We still anticipate that Slot will finalize a new contract in the upcoming months.

Slot has faced increased scrutiny following Liverpool’s four consecutive losses, with former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown cautioning that the Dutchman might soon find himself ‘under pressure’.

In today’s football landscape, where decision-makers are often quick to act, no manager or coach can feel entirely secure in their position. It is not uncommon for a manager to be dismissed in the season following a Premier League title win (as seen with Claudio Ranieri at Leicester).

Nevertheless, the current manager of the Reds still possesses ample goodwill from his achievements during his inaugural year at Anfield, and a few favorable outcomes would dispel any unfounded speculation regarding his potential dismissal.

As Jones highlighted, Liverpool has ample time to negotiate a new contract with Slot, and unless this season takes a drastic downturn, we expect that the involved parties will offer him an extension by the end of next summer.

As demonstrated by the negotiations with Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah over the past year, reaching a new deal is not a simple process that can be concluded swiftly.

It may take several more months to finalize an agreement, but at this point, it still appears highly likely that the Reds’ head coach will sign a new contract in the near future.
