How Dortmund views Liverpool’s acquisition of Nico Schlotterbeck in January.

Nico Schlotterbeck is currently delaying the signing of a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, according to reports from BILD.

This situation arises amidst numerous reports regarding Liverpool and the Premier League’s interest in the Bundesliga center-back.

Despite worries about the future of the Germany international, BVB is reportedly against selling their defensive mainstay in January.

Liverpool is gearing up for a transfer pursuit of Nico Schlotterbeck.

With the Merseyside club facing an injury crisis in their defense, acquiring reinforcements in January appears increasingly necessary.

It seems improbable that long-time target Marc Guehi will make the move to Anfield this winter, as Crystal Palace has expressed their desire to retain the Englishman for their European and Premier League endeavors.

However, BILD now indicates that Liverpool is considering a mid-season transfer for Schlotterbeck.

This consideration is in light of injuries sustained by both Giovanni Leoni (18) and Ibrahima Konate. The latter is awaiting evaluation after withdrawing from the France national team ahead of the upcoming match against Manchester United.

Decision-makers at L4 are also acutely aware of the necessity for a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk (34).

How proficient is Nico Schlotterbeck?

The brief answer? Extremely proficient.

The somewhat biased German media (though not biased enough to overlook Florian Wirtz) has lauded Schlotterbeck following a commanding performance for Germany against Northern Ireland on Monday.

Fotmob awarded the 25-year-old center-back an 8/10 rating after he won 3 out of 5 ground duels and excelled in the air, winning 5 out of 6 aerial duels.

Domestically, he continues to deliver consistently strong performances in the German top division with Niko Kovac’s squad following his recovery from a significant injury (meniscus tear).

Consequently, Liverpool is likely to face considerable resistance from Dortmund regarding a potential January transfer.
